Position Summary

Rebind is searching for an experienced Managing Editor to oversee our company’s publishing department. The Managing Editor will combine the creativity of a writer with the leadership ability of an operations manager. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end rebind publishing process and suggesting story ideas. The role requires excellent organizational and supervisory skills and creative project management experience. The Managing Editor reports to the Chief Creative Officer and supervises writers editors, and other content staff..

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the editorial process from concept to publication, ensuring that content aligns with our goals, and audience expectations.
  • Collaborate with content producers and writers to strategize and develop rebind ideas
  • Approve story pitches, develop ongoing stories, and manage content calendar.
  • Manages video production logistics, preparations, requirement gathering, preparation of presenter questions, and approval process.
  • Oversees production issues, such as negotiating contracts, communicating internal and external stakeholders (lawyer's, rebinder's (presenters), agents, contractors, vendors, etc.
  • Ensure the accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness of all content.
  • Ensure all visual elements, such as presentation videos are clear and adhere to legal guidelines.
  • Deliver daily reports regarding progress, emerging trends, and challenges.
  • Manage 30+ projects (rebinds) simultaneously by consistently monitoring status, and troubleshooting issues and update status sheet.
  • Understand the map of the organization to identify appropriate person to collaborate with regarding rebind status issues.
  • Coordinates author (rebinder) presentations by coordinating dates of visit, schedules, travel itineraries, hotel accommodation, etc.
  • Setting and monitoring budgets and executing the rebind plan in alignment with budgetary guidelines.
  • Work with various project management systems to ensure different assets are being managed correctly and the project/rebind is accurately tracked.
  • Lead a team of two editors with the ability to manage the team to success.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism preferred with experience structuring interviews. Aligned education considered, such as communications or literature.
  • Five years of experience as an editor in a publishing environment with two years’ experience as managing editor.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time managements skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to set expectations and ensure deadlines are met within budget.
  • Experience with AI-generated content is a plus
  • Strong ability to explain concepts, project requirements, processes.
  • Highly versatile with the ability to wear the hats of Managing Editor and Operations Manager.
  • Passionate about reading and discussing books. Must have the ability to read quickly with high levels of accuracy.
