The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By “Pursuing Justice with Integrity,” the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. Moreover, the BXDA aims to balance the need to seek appropriate punishment for certain crimes while recognizing when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. By recognizing these significant distinctions and acting accordingly, BXDA has established a standard of excellence in the representation of the Bronx community at large, which continues to grow stronger every day.
In furtherance of this mission, the BXDA seeks experienced and enthusiastic speech writer.
The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced Communications/Speech Writer to join its high-volume Communications/Public Information office. This position plays a key role in articulating the Office of the Bronx District Attorney’s vision and policies and supports all divisions on internal and external communications.
This position requires strategic planning, flexibility, and the ability to work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines. This is an ideal opportunity for an accomplished, detail-oriented, accurate and creative writer who can produce quickly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Compose press releases, advisories, speeches, talking points, related presentations, and information.
Help prepare the DA and staff for any media interviews.
Support writing and editing content for in-house communication tools and external, including website, social media platforms, publications, and newsletters; performing other related functions and duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Seven years as a professional writer for a news outlet, a public information office, or communications firm. Must have research skills.
