As a seasoned, SPJ award-winning author and writer for more than 20 years, I am a master storyteller. My stories dive deep beneath the surface to illuminate the true essence of place, the people behind the scenes, the meaning behind a subject.
I specialize in travel writing, with a focus on remarkable places, natural wonders and the dining experiences that symbolize a region. When I travel, I have a keen eye for not only what's new, but the hidden philosophies or connections that really make a place sing.
My stories have appeared in Alaska Airlines Magazine, American Way (American Airlines), Sunset, AAA Journey, AAA Westways, AAA Via, AAA World, Seattle Bride and other print and online publications.
The recipient of multiple Society of Professional Journalist awards, I am the author of two books, including a Michelin guide to the Pacific Northwest. On the editorial side, I was a long-time managing editor of Alaska Airlines Magazine, as well as the editor of AAA Journey and Sea Kayaker magazines,

Other Work History
Throughout my years as a magazine editor or freelance writer, I've written hundreds of stories about the Northwest and farther flung destinations, from Europe to North Africa, the Caribbean to Canada. I am the sole author of a Michelin guide to the Pacific NW and have contributed chapters to four additional Michelin guides. (Hawaii, Germany, Alaska and British Columbia). I'm also the author of a book about traveling with kids. In addition, I'm a contributing photographer to five Michelin guides and other guidebooks. Most of the photographs (70+) in the book Explorer's Guide: Victoria and Vancouver Island are mine. During my 14 years in the public relations field, I specialized in food (recipe development, food stylist, special events manager, strategic marketing planner) and writing (speeches, annual reports, newsletters).
