Professional Experience

My culture reporting and essays have appeared in Time, The New York Times, The Atlantic Cities, Ms., Mental Floss, The Daily, USA Today, The Guardian, Salon, Hemispheres, and GOOD, among many other publications. I cover culture and religion as a Sojourners contributing writer. Assignments have taken me to artisanal salt production huts on an island off the coast of northern Denmark, a conference on women's safety in public places in New Delhi, and parkour training sessions in suburban California, where I learned to leap over concrete walls. I excel at putting others at ease and have interviewed everyone from environmental activist Vandana Shiva to heavy metal rocker Andrew WK. Clients praise my ability to be reliably deadline-oriented and enthusiastic about any project. I write for custom publications and write and edit web copy, brochures, and internal management policy documents for corporate and non-profit/NGO clients when it does not conflict with my reporting.
