I currently manage and edit SIAM News, a newsjournal for the applied mathematical science community, both in print and online. I write and edit articles breaking down high-level applied mathematics and computational science research for specialized audiences.
In previous positions I've written articles writing about mathematical and scientific research at the popular science level, with the goal of raising awareness of the value of math and science among the public.
Prior to writing and editing, I worked in scientific research. As a graduate student research specialist, I conducted molecular biological research studies in RNA metabolism, and heart and lung development.
