THE ROLE:
Sensus, a Xylem Brand, is looking for a talented back-end WordPress web developer with a strong understanding of PHP to support and maintain the websites, databases, servers and analytics platforms for our global marketing team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role will own the back-end server administration and WordPress development of our corporate website and support the platform owners of our marketing automation, digital asset management, sales enablement and CRM tools. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
Developing the back-end and supporting WordPress features for Sensus.com, our dynamic, highly customized, multilingual corporate website
Integrating user-facing elements developed by a front-end developer with server-side logic
Managing and installing new versions of WordPress and third-party plugins
Supporting and administering a suite of digital marketing tools
Monitoring the health and uptime of our Digital Ocean multi-site server; perform regular server maintenance
Providing technical support for other marketing websites; aiding other developers with system design and implementation.
Capturing requirements and translate them into clean, semantic code
Assisting with API integrations
Preventing hacks and maintaining security settings
Backing up and restoring files and databases
Building reusable code and libraries for future use
Optimizing our marketing tools for maximum speed and scalability
Implementing security and data protection and storage solutions
Effectively and professionally collaborate with marketing teammates, management, and other project stakeholders
REQUIRED SKILLS:
3+ years’ experience WordPress theme and template development that follow web standards and best practices
Proficient knowledge of PHP/MySQL
Experience configuring and managing NGINX
Experience with AJAX, ACF and the WPML translation plugin
Familiarity with SOAP & REST web services for integrating marketing platforms
Excellent communication skills
Disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance
Understanding accessibility and security compliance
Experience managing user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments (SSO)
Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system
Management of hosting environment, including database administration and scaling an application to support load changes
Data migration, transformation, and scripting
Setup and administration of backups
Outputting data in different formats
Understanding differences between multiple delivery platforms such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform
Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, especially GitHub
Proficient understanding of OWASP security principles
Understanding of ‘session management’ in a distributed server environment
Excellent communication and collaboration
DESIRABLE SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE:
In-house marketing or agency environment
Salesforce Force.com/VisualForce/Apex development
WordPress, Marketo, WebDAM and Salesforce digital tools
Development of global, multilingual websites
