Sr. Medical Editor

The Sr. Medical Editor works cross-functionally with internal departments on several types of media, following AMA Manual of Style, house style, and/or client style. This position is responsible for ensuring that the quality requirements for all materials are satisfied, including grammar, style, spelling, and consistency.

The candidate will:

Responsibilities Include:Style edit all program/meeting/enduring materials (all formats) for accuracy, ensuring they are free from grammatical and spelling errorsReview editorial content for consistency of style and make changes as neededIdentify unclear or cumbersome language and offer suggestions for improvementEnsure accuracy, including faculty names, drug names, etcFor advisory board slides, perform "cold read" for style consistency and clarityFor journal publications (supplement articles), ensure compliance with journal requirements and consistency across journals/magazinesFor peer review journal submissions, style and format manuscript in accordance with journal style guidesUnderstand and apply digital editorial guidelines when proofreading/ approving websites, digital e-mails, etcAbility to quickly master specifics of assigned accounts and product categories, as well as accommodate multiple assignments effectivelyAbility to resolve content issues using reference material and in collaboration with other editors and/or medical writing teamAbility to work independently and establish and communicate workload prioritiesAbility to follow company and/or client standard proceduresAbility to understand and operate project workflows and anticipate next stepsAbility to use new AI-based tools to process information and increase efficiencyJob Description:

Works with editorial, medical writing, digital, creative, and association teams to conduct quality control and editing reviews on all content to ensure accuracy and consistency within and across documentsProvides editorial and quality control review of other types of documents, such as abstracts, manuscripts, posters, presentations for scientific meetings, and journal articlesEnsures timely completion/delivery of high-quality quality control and editorial reviewsEnsures a consistent style of document presentation to maintain quality and ease of review and adherence to company standardsProcures and manages external quality control review and editorial resources (eg, freelance quality control reviewers)Contributes to the development and standardization of templates and related processesAssists in the day-to-day operational activities and other assignments as needed and specified by managementFollows company and/or client standard proceduresUnderstands and can operate within project workflows and anticipates next stepsUses AI-based tools to increase efficiency and productivityQualifications:

5 years' experience copyediting/proofreading all scientific/medical contentProficient working knowledge of AMA Manual of Style, 11th edition, style and ability to follow other style guidesAbility to proofread and copyedit documents that have professional-level medical contentAbility to understand medical and scientific terminologySuperior oral and written communication skillsExceptional attention to detailExcellent computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat ProfessionalAbility to use the Internet to find and verify facts as needed; familiarity with PubMed and/or other reference-gathering search toolsExcellent planning, organization, and time management skills, including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects and to complete high-quality documents according to tight timelines, are requiredExperience managing editorial workflowsExperience using digital and technology tools to increase efficiency and productivity
