JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Library Director, the Library Assistant will assist the Director in various aspects of library services for the Library.

Essential Functions/ResponsibilitiesTo understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ Dodge City Community Collegeprovides a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve theireducational, personal, and career goals.Perform multiple circulation duties including: maintain library database, reserve materials and records, check out and in of library materials, overdue records, greet and assist students in a helpful, friendly and professional manner, operate microfiche/film equipment, video equipment, Fax machine, paper copiers, automation system and other available equipment.Assist and instruct students in the use of the online catalog, databases and the general internet.Operate computers, microfiche/film equipment, video equipment, fax machine, photocopiers, library management system (automation system) and other available equipment. Assist with maintain library electronic catalog including entering electronic records, deleting items, and updating records.Using telephone, computer, and courier; request, receive and loan materials to/from other libraries. Maintain accurate records of interlibrary loan transactions. Abide by state and system policies and regulations. Keep accurate records and reports for the Kansas State Library.Contributes to the planning and execution of library literacy programming.Provide clerical support services for the library and Director.Unlock building and prepare for service: i.e. lights, equipment, etc. Lock building at closing time. Submit maintenance requests on building needs.Responsible for conformance with the policies established by the Board of Trustees of the College and the procedures that apply to this position.Serve the student, staff, and community members in a professional and congenial manner.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Shift and work assignments may vary during regular library hours to meet staffing needs. This includes evening and weekend hours.The above job description supersedes all previous descriptions. Ability to lift and carry 13-15 lb. loads over 100 feet multiple times in a three hour period.Ability to stand over 3 hour periods without sitting.Ability to carry 2 lb. loads overhead to a height of 6 feet and to bend, stoop, kneel to floor multiple times in a 3 hour period.Ability to carry 32 lb. audio visual equipment up to 25 ft. Ability to read 4 pt. type.Ability to hear students in a conversational voice at a distance of 10 ft. and on the telephone.Ability to speak clearly and audibly to students standing at a distance of 10 ft.Building Assignment
