We have a great opportunity available for you to join our Coatings business as the

Global Marketing Director . This strategic leadership position will be located in our global headquarters in Cincinnati, OH. You will be responsible for developing, articulating, and executing a compelling global growth strategy. You will have the opportunity to combine your industry knowledge, business insight and leadership capability to take this growth strategy to action in close collaboration with external value chain partners and cross-functional teams within Michelman. You will also be responsible for building our marketing capability by developing the team and leading the use of best marketing practices.

Primary Responsibilities

Target Market DevelopmentUnderstand the competitive landscape in the waterborne coatings and adhesives market through value chain analysis of key players and industry ecosystemsIdentify, quantify, and prioritize strategic market segments to target with technologies for the waterborne coatings market and then develop and execute business plans for those marketsConduct primary market research through voice of customer collection at key customers and other influencers to refine the strategyIncorporate globally impactful market factors into regional and local tailored business plans and then work closely with regional teams to drive market development strategyContinually assess potential new, emerging, and attractive sub-segments within the coatings market, to identify growth opportunities and capability requirementsMarket-Driven New Product Development and CommercializationSupport development of next generation technologies that solve unmet needs of the waterborne coatings marketplaceDevelop business cases, value propositions and pricing strategiesSponsor and drive New Product Development initiativesEnlist charter customers for new products and plan, execute, and support commercial launchesIn collaboration with Technology, accelerate New Product Development by providing industry expertise in understanding of coatings technologies and application practicesMarketing CommunicationsInitiate and support development of marketing communications (product literature, advertising, trade shows, press releases, website content, feature articles, etc.)Represent Michelman in industry forums to help penetrate target markets and increase acquisition of new sales prospectsProduct ManagementIn collaboration with Sales, establish and monitor pricing strategy and policyIn collaboration with Supply Chain and Sales, analyze business data and implement strategies to optimize profitability and cash flowMarketing ExecutionDevelop and execute our channel and branding strategyIdentify and engage key buying influencers in target marketsPartner with Sales to promote Michelman solutionsDevelop and implement comprehensive marketing plans to support commercial objectivesConduct and/or commission market research and competitor analyses to identify opportunities for growth and maintain a competitive edgeCritical Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Broad and deep market and technology understanding of the waterborne coatings spaceConsistent track record of delivering results in matrix-management organizational structureStrategic Thinker: Proven ability to develop and execute strategic marketing plans that drive business growthDeep understanding of and connection to the coatings industry, and the ability to translate customer insights into effective marketing strategiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong external focus with a growth mindsetProven track record of building collaborative teamsHigh levels of self-motivation, initiative, and interpersonal skillsEducation and Experience

At least ten (10+) years of experience in the coatings industry, preferably industrial coatings, of which 5 -10 years B2B marketing experienceDemonstrated knowledge in water-based chemistry coatings industry in roles of progressive responsibility (e.g. in sales, marketing, business development)Experience finding differentiated and sustainable solutions in the industry with a proven track record of launching new growth programs and delivering resultsGlobal business experience with strong industry connections, recognition and credibilityBachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Science, Engineering, or Marketing requiredAdvanced business degree preferredOther
