The Music Therapist is responsible for developing and implementing a music therapy program designed to meet the individual needs of students with special needs enrolled. The program is provided in multiple service locations.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
+ Provide individual music therapy evaluations/intervention in multiple locations.
+ Prepare, implement, and evaluate Individualized Education Plans for each student.
+ Maintain all necessary and appropriate records.
+ Communicate with administrators, teachers, parents and students regarding progress/status of music therapy program.
+ Participate in staffings, parent meetings, and annual review meetings as appropriate.
+ Provide training activities as requested.
+ Assist classroom staff in developing instructional techniques in the area of music therapy.
+ Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Special Education Supervisor.
Job Qualifications
NYS Creative Arts Therapy license; appropriate coursework in music therapy; and registration as a MT by the American Music Therapy Association, or active pursuit of same, is required. Prior experience teaching students with special needs is strongly preferred.
