Experienced Proposal Writer/Manager

Le'fant is seeking a Proposal Writer/Manager who understands the art of persuasive communications and has helped his or her company win business by drafting proposals and responses. In this role, you will combine an understanding of the technical information and business benefits of what we're proposing and communicate these in a clear, compelling way that minimizes jargon and maximize understanding. This position is a highly visible role that works closely with senior leadership, capture personnel, and operations management to write, edit, review, and produce winning proposals.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Respond to RFQ/RFP requests utilizing Shipley's Proposal Writing guidelines

• Develop requirements matrix outlining individual RFQ/RFP requirements

• Evaluate RFQ/RFP requirements to determine format of proposal

• Responsible for development of draft and final proposals from document creation to proof reading to final product

• Write compelling, compliant proposal sections that address the RFP requirements, the Statement of Work tasks, while highlighting win themes, features/benefits/advantages, risks/mitigation plans, and discriminators as appropriate.

• Manage proposals from bid process to final submittal

• Work under tight schedule constraints and submit proposals to meet deadlines, working overtime as necessary

• Responsible to develop graphics, spreadsheets, and format documentation to create final proposal

• Review and edit content provided by subject matter experts to ensure compliance with proposal outline and win themes while adhering to proposal schedule.

• Search existing proposal content to tailor/leverage in technical, management, past performance sections as needed.

• Synthesize content from interviews, proposal archives, project documentation, and industry best practices to develop tailored proposal sections.

• Support continuous improvement of proposal development, knowledge base, and knowledge management processes.

• Tailor resumes and past performance narratives

• Write multiple sections of the Technical Solution and/or Management Approach

• Interview projects SMEs to gain customer specific and solution area information in support of writing

• Send data calls to partners and ensure they submit their response on time

• Respond to data calls for partners on time

• Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirements with contributors; contributing proposal status information to review meetings; transmitting proposals.

• Ensure win strategy, technical solution, win themes, discriminators, compliance, and clear understanding of the requirement are well-articulated and consistent throughout final proposal documents

• Review and edit proposal responses for consistency, compliance, win theme incorporation, solution accuracy, and other elements during regular and core team review cycles in order to create the final proposal submission.

• Uses automated proposal collaboration and document management tools, including Sharepoint.

Support other Proposal Operations activities as needed

Requirements

Required Education & Requirements

• Bachelors degree or higher and/or equivalent experience will be considered.

• At least 8 years technical writing experience in proposal work, ideally in a position where you "owned" the entire process of drafting responses and proposals.

• Experience developing process flows, methods and procedures, functional requirement documentation

• Must be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities.

• Must display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

• Work ethic that recognizes punctuality, initiative and ownership of a project from beginning to end.

• Ability to prioritize and write several projects simultaneously; able to be hands-on as well as strategic

• Ability to guide and effectively influence with and without authority; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of management, proposal teams, SMEs, peers, and teaming partners

• Ability to work to meet deadlines (work overtime as needed)

• Ability to develop compelling themes, discriminators, and messaging to communicate value proposition

• Ability to work well both in a team and independently

• Ability to work with geographically disparate teams

• Ability to create original content using interview and research techniques

• Fluency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience writing winning, large competitive strategic proposals

• Formal proposal training and/or certifications (e.g., APMP)

• Graphics Experience

• Experience as proposal and capture manager
