The Vice President Communications provides strategic leadership in the creation and implementation of communication programs to ensure positive and productive relationships with the media, government officials and community leaders and organizations. Accountable for coordinating communications activities involving government relations and community relations for all components of JPS Health Network. Ensure a coordinated, integrated program of timely and forthright communications to educate and inform key external and internal constituencies of JPS Health Network's leadership in patient care and its contributions.Typical Duties:Serves as principal and strategic communications advisor to the Administrator (CEO), also provides advice to the leaders of all components of JPS Health Network and Board of Managers.Provides counsel to institutional leaders on policies and procedures and the development, dissemination and evaluation of those policies and procedures to enhance relations with the public, external stakeholders and governmental bodies.Serves as the chief spokesperson for JPS Health Network.Identifies emerging regulatory issues that may affect JPS Health Network and lead the development of a strategic and organized approach for advocating the Network's position(s).Develops and implement a positive press and media program. Oversee writing, editing and production of existing and new communication vehicles for print and broadcast media and internal audiences.Responds to requests for information about employers' activities or status.Keeps abreast of developments within JPS Health Network, with a special focus on patient satisfaction and clinical care; develop and maintain relations with the leading media locally and nationally. Anticipate and alert the Administrator (CEO) and senior administration to major issues that may affect JPS Health Network's programs and reputation.Establishes and support institutional priorities and goals with JPS Health Network's leaders. Develop and maintain strong relationships with academic and administrative offices.Works closely with JPS Health Network's leaders of offices of government relations and community relations, strategic planning, business development, and with leaders of communications units in all major units of JPS Health Network to ensure coordination and integration of strategic communications.Works closely with the directors of government and community relations offices to identify emerging local, state and federal legislation/regulations affecting JPS Health Network and leads development of a strategic, organized approach for advocating the Network's position(s).Responsible for coordination and response of public information requests submitted to JPS Health Network.Works closely with JPS Health Network leaders to establish and support institutional priorities and goals. Contribute to strong, team-oriented relationships with other units, and develop and maintain strong liaison relationships with relevant academic and administrative offices.Works directly with the CEO to develop both long-term and short-term strategy on what to and how to communicate ideas and actions of the JPS network to both internal and external audiences.Identifies main client groups and audiences and develop the best way to communicate publicity information effective to the entire community served by JPS with an emphasis on the JPS patient population while managing and maintaining communication budgetsAssigns, supervise and review the activities of the JPS Communications Department.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.Minimum of fifteen (15) years experience in healthcare or related field at the administrative leadership/leadership level.Experience in leading strategic planning initiatives.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Master's Degree in Business, Healthcare or a related discipline.
