Locations: Des Moines IA or Omaha, NE

Position Summary:

DLR Group's Smart Buildings team is an award winning, multi-disciplinary, innovative group at the forefront of delivering smart, connected and high-performing buildings, bridging owner's performance requirements across design, construction and operations.

In this position, you will be the Project Manager for multiple high-profile, national and international Commissioning projects across DLR Group's core sectors including Workplace, Federal, Education, Hospitality, Healthcare, Justice & Civic, Mixed-Use and more.

As a Commissioning Authority, you will frequently travel to job sites to perform thorough design and construction reviews, functional testing, and building performance diagnostics. Expect to be traveling approximately 30 - 50% of your time in a typical month. In this role there is potential for rapid growth opportunities as we expand our Smart Buildings team.

The successful candidate will:

Act as a project manager and client leader for a variety of new construction commissioning projectsWork on retro-commissioning projects, measurement and verification projects, and energy audit projectsWork on a variety of monitoring-based commissioning projects where the use of a Fault Detection & Diagnostics tool (Skyspark) provides systems performance data to augment the traditional commissioning process.Work with Integrated Design teams of Architects, Engineers and specialty designers, providing commissioning expertise on projects across DLR Group's core sectorsManage project execution and client expectations to adhere to budget, schedule, and scopeDevelop communicate, and update project plans including information such as project objectives, technical specifications, schedules, and staffingConduct Commissioning site visits and travel as neededSubmit project deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality standardsProvide training and mentorship to staff and emerging engineersPerform a QA/QC review of the project deliverablesWork with marketing and business development teams to develop scope and fee for new project opportunitiesRun projects independently with regular check-ins with a broader Commissioning teamHave strong technical skills and a solid understanding of engineering concepts and advanced problem-solving skills expected of a bachelor level engineering degree or aboveHave familiarity with use of portable monitoring/metering equipmentBe goal oriented with strong skills in problem solving, creativity, and attention to detailBe collaborative, client-focused and a clear communicator who can interact professionally with internal and external clients and demonstrate our reputation as an industry leaderBe detail oriented, organized, and able to execute a quality commissioning processPossess a sense of self-direction and the ability to manage your own time and aid others to ensure projects are on schedule and within budgetShare DLR Group's common values of Commitment, Creativity, Environmental Stewardship, Fun, Integrity, Ownership, Sharing, and TeamworkReview equipment submittals and shop drawings for overall compliance with the design intent and owner's requirements.Perform field observations of equipment and systems to document progress and attend selected jobsite meetingsDevelop pre-functional checklists and functional performance test procedures based upon industry standards and project design requirements.Perform functional testing of building MEP systems to determine that equipment is functioning in accordance with the design documents.Required Qualifications:

5+ years of full-time hands-on experience in Commissioning building systemsKnowledge of the building design and construction industry with expertise in the building commissioning process is essential.A strong understanding of the Commissioning process for New Construction and Major RenovationsA strong understanding of Existing Building Commissioning, Operations and Maintenance, specifically with energy use and indoor environmental qualityStrong Technical knowledge of HVAC and building automation systems to evaluate and test the performance of these systemsExcellent written and oral communications skillsStrong organizational and computer skills are necessaryPreferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering.Professional Licensure.Commissioning certification with a nationally recognized professional body is a plus (ACG, BCA or ASHRAE).Familiarity or a willingness to learn more about using SkySpark as a Connected-Commissioning/Monitoring-based Commissioning tool.
