We cover a broad area of the tech spectrum, including machine learning, classifiers for 3D models, experimentation, automation, detection workflows, and AI-powered text filters. Aligned and partnering with product teams, we use this tool belt to discover new opportunities, influence and shape the product roadmap and prioritization, build safety products, and measure the impact on our community of users and developers. WHY CONTENT SAFETY?
As a Senior Software Engineer on Content Safety, you'll build systems to ensure that user-generated content across Roblox is safe and civil. You'll work on some of the most challenging problems we face, from real-time text-filters at scale, to using LLMs at the cutting edge of content moderation. You will report to the Engineering Manager, Content Safety.
You Will:
Work on every application that Roblox develops, from mobile phone clients to cloud-based servers.
Be an integral partner to machine learning engineers, enabling ML at all levels of the stack.
Help define the team's roadmap and long-term strategy towards keeping content and features on Roblox safe.
Utilize our unique infrastructure to solve exciting problems at scale.
Work on high impact, high visibility projects to improve user safety and experience.
You Have:
4+ years of experience developing large-scale backend systems
4+ years of experience with C++
7+ years of experience in software development
7+ years of experience building and shipping products to production
Familiar with Lua, Python, C#, TypeScript, or Go (plus)
Experience using big data query/processing languages and tools such as SQL, Hive, Spark and Airflow (plus)
Contributions to open source projects (plus)

You've worked on deep and challenging problems in complex C++ codebases
Systems-level : pointers, templates, and raw blocks of memory are tools to write code, not your enemies
Responsible:
You build systems that work and keep on working reliably

You always start with the needs of the user, whether they are Roblox users or internal engineers before architecting a solution.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits. Annual Salary Range $233,840—$283,780 USD
