Supervising Editor

The Players' Lounge Holdings, Remote Work, Southeast USA

Salary: Competitive

Salary min: $90,000.00

Salary max: $120,000.00

Level: Manager

Duration: Full Time

The Players’ Lounge is hiring a Supervising Editor to oversee post-production for TPL’s growing coverage of NCAA student-athletes. Thanks to the changes in NIL, TPL gives current student-athletes the opportunity to tell their own stories, rather than be the subjects of reporting by the typical sports media and recruiting sites. Athletes host their own shows, discussing current topics and other things on their minds.

As Supervising Editor, you will work with a mix of college & graduate student interns in addition to other editing and production partners to organize and optimize TPL’s student-athlete content for distribution across digital channels including YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. As the leader of this team, you will identify, and position storylines driven by TPL’s athlete content and craft them to align with sports news and fan interests.

Initial Responsibilities:

  • Create storytelling that accurately informs, entertains, and engages specific audiences and platforms.
  • Work with editors and content strategists to evaluate what's working and what's not and develop ongoing plans to deeply engage the audience.
  • Partner with the existing team to establish Style Guide for TPL’s national and university specific brands.
  • Diligence current practices and re-launch file storage & backup software within a given budget.
  • Organize and scale processes for backing up footage, files, and assets.
  • Contribute new video content ideas for multiple digital platforms, including web and social.
  • Repackage video content creatively and professionally so it’s compatible with mobile and social environments.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience at a large publisher or agency working across multiple streams.
  • Strong sports news judgment, communication skills, and headline-writing ability.
  • Deep understanding of efficiently scaling media operations.
  • Sports superfan, 3+ years editing in sports.
  • Ability to work across multiple photos & video editing software & suites.
  • Proficiency across social media platforms, specifically YouTube, Instagram, & TikTok
  • Proven experience in video editing, photo editing and light animation/graphic design.
  • Experience shooting and editing photos and videos on a mobile device.
  • Driven to educate, mentor, and professionalize self-taught editors.
  • Plays the long game for scale and knows how to build on small wins.
  • Entrepreneurial, interested in start-ups and willing to pitch in for anything.

Added Benefit:

  • Experience in branded content.
  • Creative vision and experience on the production side.
  • Data driven approach to performance evaluation.
  • Passionate about NIL's impact on athletes.
