Safari Club International is a U.S.-based organization of more than 50,000 hunters and nearly 200 chapters worldwide, dedicated to protecting the right to hunt and to promote wildlife conservation. Between SCI and its sister organization, the SCI Foundation, we have put more than $70 Million on the ground for conservation since 2000. In the U.S. and abroad, hunters are part of a system that keeps the rivers, forests and fields intact and maintains the wildlife.
Summary
The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for planning, coordination and implementation of the communications strategy for SCI. This role will support a range of organizational priorities including membership growth, brand awareness and hunting advocacy issue management. The role will lead and execute campaigns and initiatives that position SCI as a leader in hunting advocacy and increase participation in and results from advocacy outreach to members and the hunting community. The incumbent will assist in the team's efforts as it relates to print and digital communications and assist all departments within SCI with marketing and communications by delivering high-quality content, digital, print and social media communication services.
All applicants should demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, hunting as an essential part of biologically sound and ethically responsible international wildlife management. The ideal candidate will have an existing knowledge of SCI's current programs and mission and be passionate about hunter's rights.
ResponsibilitiesLead the execution of campaigns and initiatives that support the organization's goals in membership growth, brand awareness and hunting advocacy issue management.Create, implement, and assess performance of communications and marketing efforts at the direction of the supervisorWrite news articles, op-eds, news releases and feature articles on a professional level, clearly, concisely, on short deadlines while utilizing variable writing styles to target intended audiences for use in all communications media.Execute communications in email, social media, print, digital and other channelsProduce internal business reports including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year end business reports; and external reports.Travel nationally and internationally as necessary.Build relationships with congressional communications staff, industry communications, field writers and reporters; work directly with PR consultants.Communicate with SCI Chapters and generate materials highlighting their activities.Perform other related duties as assigned. Attends meetings, conventions, trade shows, and other events as appropriate.Qualifications
The position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 3 to 5 years of related experience.Knowledge of Washington, D.C., politics, government, etc. is strongly preferred.Knowledge of hunting and hunting implements, laws, traditions and customs is extremely significant.Experience in national and international travel and affairs is preferred.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software, to include OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams with an ability to become familiar with SCI-specific programs and software.Proficient with email deployment tool such as DRIP, planning/publishing content on social media, and creating content on WordPress websites or similar.Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and customer service skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills and exceptional customer service.Experience drafting content for various audiences, including internal memos, press releases.Ability to recommend, proactively initiate work and projects with minimal direction.Maintain composure and quality under constant deadline pressure.Experience in taking photographs and video at minimum of an entry-level quality.
