One Hat One Hand is an interdisciplinary design and fabrication studio specializing in experiential storytelling. We optimize brands for emotional impact with interior design, branded exhibitions, and interactive art installations. OHOH specializes in the design and fabrication of public art, architectural placemaking, product prototyping, and experiential design. We are a fun, creative collective of artists working in a fast-paced, collaborative design studio and fabrication shop.

One Hat One Hand is seeking a qualified Designer/Project Manager to join our growing studio. This position requires Design and Fabrication experience in industrial design, architecture, and fabrication, as well as engagement in industry related positions such as presentation design and project management. The right candidate is detail oriented, communicative, excited by teamwork, and has a passion for creative expression and problem solving.

OverviewA Designer/PM at One Hat One Hand is responsible for the successful completion and delivery of all contracted scope for a given project. This includes creating constructible three dimensional designs, and then developing illustrative visualizations and diagrams that describe the final forms to both the client as well as the fabrication team for construction. Throughout the project a Designer/PM needs to collaborate with the estimating, production, and finishing teams as well as outside consultants to ensure that the design is brought to life in both an experientially stunning and cost efficient way.

Primary ResponsibilitiesThe following are key duties and responsibilities of a Designer/PM at OHOH:Develop design concepts, 3D visualizations, and presentation decks for client meetingsCollaborate with the internal Production and Finishing Departments for prototyping strategies, build drawings, production schedules, and install and maintenance plansCreate technical documentation for coordination with contractors, structural engineering, MEP engineering, and permitting

Rationalize client designs for constructibility, taking into account fabrication methods, material thicknesses, et alCreate cut files for internal fabrication team and external vendors and manage their schedule and deliverableCoordinate and conduct meetings with project stakeholders; create agendas, take detailed notes, and distribute follow-up materialsMaintain communication with stakeholders regarding scope, schedule, and budget throughout the project lifecycle

Supervise projects as they move through the various production departments, from cnc to fabrication and finishing.Project based time management of hours allocated per phase and taskCoordinate fabrication schedules within and between projectsTrack and manage project finances, expense reports, source and order materials, and coordinate deliveriesCompile final documentation of project (photos, designs, descriptions)

Essential Skills and ExperienceProject management, client management, schedule creation and management, and construction administrationDetailed oriented with professional meeting etiquette and management skills; agenda creation, concise note taking, and punctuality Highly creative, detailed oriented, and strong critical thinkingClear and concise written and spoken communication skillsDigital fabrication experience including CNC, laser cutting, waterjet, and 3d printingKnowledge of wood, steel, aluminum, acrylic, foams, plastics, and casting fabrication and finishing techniquesProficient in G-suite, Asana, Adobe Suite, CAD, Rhino, Sketchup, Vectorworks, V-Ray, Enscape, Blender, Unreal

Compensation: $85,000 - $95,000 DOE
