In this role you will work remotely on a diverse project portfolio with a variety of clients, other project managers, and support staff to ensure the successful completion of railroad related projectsPreferred candidates will be based in the US. Client interaction and coordination on a frequent basisCoordinates the plans and schedules of detailed phases of the engineering work and performs the design of major projectsMonitors project schedules and job costs and ensures project performancePerforms the design calculations of projects and checks the work of staff and design engineers assigned to projects under his/her controlSupervises assistants, designers, technicians, and CADD operators/drafters assigned to the project teamPrepares preliminary engineering reports, studies, and presentations to clients and stakeholdersParticipates in business development activities such as marketing, developing project win strategies, and preparing technical data for proposals and interviewsMaintains well organized written records of decisions, meetings, telephone conferences, and other documentation for the permanent project recordEnsure quality management with implementation of quality control standards$80K -- $100KQualifications

Experience with winning and executing projects for Class 1 railroads, public transportation agencies, state agencies, and/or local municipalities related to rail is desired. Essential Job Functions:100% remote position. Preferred candidates will be based in the US. Client interaction and coordination on a frequent basis. Coordinates the plans and schedules of detailed phases of the engineering work and performs the design of major projects. Monitors project schedules and job costs and ensures project performance. Performs the design calculations of projects and checks the work of staff and design engineers assigned to projects under his/her control. Supervises assistants, designers, technicians, and CADD operators/drafters assigned to the project team. Prepares preliminary engineering reports, studies, and presentations to clients and stakeholders. Participates in business development activities such as marketing, developing project win strategies, and preparing technical data for proposals and interviews. Maintains well organized written records of decisions, meetings, telephone conferences, and other documentation for the permanent project record. Required Skills Effective communication skills - both verbal and written. Broad understanding of required engineering principles. Skilled in project management, managing technical professionals, and demonstrated ability to lead and direct multiple concurrent projects. Excellence in managing project pursuits, preparing proposals, and working with marketing staff. Ensure quality management with implementation of quality control standards. Required Experience Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. MicroStation experience required. 5 - 12 years of experience in the rail industry, as well as being in project engineering or management positions relating to railroad projects.
