POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Web Developer will be instrumental in designing, modifying, coding, and implementing new and existing software products. This role is critical in driving our digital transformation efforts, ensuring that our web solutions are not only innovative but also align with our strategic objectives to deliver peak performance and exceptional user experiences. You'll work within the data team and closely with other cross-functional teams to create responsive, user-centered websites and applications. While not required, the ideal candidate has government sector experience. This preference includes familiarity with regulatory, security, and operational standards relevant to public sector projects, emphasizing the ability to adapt to various project environments. This position reports to the Director of Data Analytics, Tools & Methods.

Candidates must be local to the DMV or willing to relocate.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Front-end development, working in collaboration with our visual design team to create appealing web pages that feature user-friendly design and clear navigationBackend development to ensure server, application, and database communication is optimized for performance and scalabilityEnhance user experiences by updating public-facing websites and internal intranets (e.g.., SharePoint), as well as identify and resolve technical issues.Ensure all digital content and interfaces comply with WCAG accessibility guidelines and principles of digital accessibility, fostering an inclusive web environment for all usersWork closely with our project management teams to meet technical requirements and project deadlinesTranslate client requirements into technical specifications and functional digital solutionsEngage in continuous learning to keep up-to-date with fast-changing web technologiesImplement security measures to protect data and ensure compliance with legal and company standardsOptimize applications for maximum speed and scalabilityCollaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs, providing technical solutions that align with business goalsParticipate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge-sharingWHAT YOU'LL BRING

6+ years of relevant work experience in web developmentBachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldProficient understanding of data visualization, capable of creating and interpreting complex datasets into comprehensible and actionable visuals for decision-making and stakeholder engagementProficiency in SharePointProven track record of successful project deliveryDemonstrated expertise in programming languages including but not limited to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and familiarity with platforms like GitHub and Jekyll, enhancing collaboration and site reliabilityClient/customer focus with a sense of urgency to deliver quality work, understanding the critical nature of government projects and the impact on public servicesStrong relationship-building skills, crucial for navigating the complexities of government contracts and fostering trust with stakeholdersStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and negotiate skillfully, ensuring project alignment with client needs and strategic objectivesExcellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills within all levels of an organizationProven track record of successfully managing projects, driving change, and delivering results in a fast-paced, growth environment; adept at prioritizing, operating in ambiguity, thinking critically, and being resourceful when problem-solvingWillingness and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance and/or a positive suitability determination by completing necessary background check investigations to perform client workWillingness and ability to travel to client sites in the surrounding DC and Baltimore metro areas; occasional travel outside of these regions could be expected (5%)Desired skills, experiences, and certifications: PMP and/or Prosci certification, Government web development experience, cloud.gov experienceMust be legally eligible to work in the United States, now and in the future, without the need for company (The Clearing) sponsorship

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing duties of this job, an employee may be required to perform any, or all of the following: Attend meetings in and out of the office, travel (sometimes extensively); Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand; Communicate effectively (both orally and in writing); Ability to effectively use computers and other electronic and standard office equipment; Occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work is primarily sedentary and involves sitting for several hours at a time. Occasionally walking, climbing stairs, and standing occur in this role. Additionally, this job requires certain mental demands, including the ability to use judgment, withstand moderate amounts of stress, and maintain attention to detail.
