L&T Technology Services, Sunnyvale, California, United States,

Audio Mechanical EngineerAs Audio Mechanical Engineer in the Acoustic Render (Speaker) Team, you will have a high degree of device architectural and audio transducer design and integration influence on our acoustic custom speaker modules. Together with your colleagues, you will contribute to the development of the next cutting-edge social first hardware devices across AR and VR.The RL (Reality Labs) Audio Technology Device Team cares and designs for end-users to be frictionless and naturally connected with their loved ones in compelling device form factors where sound is a vital facet.

You will become part of a team exploring and developing early ideas, prototypes to mass-production of consumer electronics. You will work as part of a cross functional team requiring collaboration and curiosity in domains of mechanical and electroacoustic engineering. Our ideal candidate has strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, prototyping skills, CAD fluency, manufacturing process knowledge, and experience designing consumer electronics.

Together with electroacoustic transducer/module/system design engineers, you frame qualitative experiences to quantitative data during deep cross-functional dialogs to balance a given form factor with acoustic performance, reliability, power consumption and cost.

The RL Audio Technology Device Team has comprehensive acoustic facilities, equipment, working methods and overall ownership of the full device acoustic speaker performance all the way from architectural infant concepts to mass production.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead complex micro-plastic mechanical solutions of audio microspeaker modules using insert molded steel plates and acoustic meshesModel, build, test, and refine prototypes and establish test systems for mechanical validationsWork across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping high volume productsLeverage external teams (CM/JDM/Vendors) to maximize the focus of our internal resources on adding value and differentiation to our productsPush state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problemsMake demo hardware and test fixturesTravel to external vendors up to 15%

Minimum QualificationsBS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience4+ years of product design and development experience of micro-speakers in high volume consumer electronicsExperience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, geometric tolerancing, and 3D/2D CADWorking knowledge of material properties, such as plastics, metal, adhesive, glass, etc.Testing and analysis experience (Design of Experiments, mold flow, etc.)Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, injection molding, etc.)

Preferred QualificationsMS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldExperience with NX CADExperience with products requiring cosmetic surface treatments and interfacing with industrial design teamsExperience with Asian vendors cross-functional communication.
