The Priority Center is seeking a dedicated

Development Core Volunteer,

specializing in

Grant Research & Writing , to gain meaningful experience in the nonprofit sector. We are an Orange County nonprofit organization, located in Santa Ana, CA, working to

end the generational cycle of trauma.

Our mission is to deliver life-changing programs to assist people in crisis by giving them the tools and support necessary to end the generational cycle of trauma- including prevention of child abuse and neglect, through early intervention and mental health services and advocacy.The

Development Core Volunteer (Grant Research & Writing)

will work with the Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations and Grant Writer to research new funding opportunities for general operational budgets, designated programs, and restricted opportunities, as well as assist in the management of the Grant submission process for The Priority Center.Commitment:

Minimum of 3-5 months, 5-20 hours per week of serviceEssential Duties & Responsibilities:Research new funding opportunities for general operational budgets, designed programs, and restricted opportunitiesAssist in the management of the grant submission process for The Priority CenterIdentify appropriate grant opportunitiesAssist with all grant follow up reportsDraft, write, and finalize proposals for submission to fundersQualifications:Previous education in: English, Journalism, or Creative Writing; Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations, or another similar fieldSuperior writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; ability to turn data into narrative formAbility to work independently yet be an integral part of an overall team environmentAbility to conduct research via the internet, library and other sourcesExcellent time management and ability to meet deadlinesStrong interpersonal skillsExperience with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programsStrong interest in non-profit sectorBenefits:Gain hands-on experience working with a local Orange County nonprofit organizationLearn valuable skillsets in the areas of fundraising and grant research & writing.Help improve the lives of thousands of at-risk children and families in Orange County, CAGain experience on your resume as a core volunteerKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Ability to uphold The Priority Center’s mission and visionAbility to effectively communicate and maintain a professional tone in written and verbal communicationAbility to follow communication guidelines such as: calling out, requesting time off, and office proceduresAbility to manage priorities and tasks including effective time managementAbility to perform responsibilities in a timely manner
