Practice Group Marketing Manager (Regional Corporate)Cooley is seeking a Practice Group Marketing Manager to join the Marketing team.

Position summary:

The Practice Group Marketing Manager, Regional Corporate & Emerging Companies/Venture Capital ("ECVC") is responsible for market analyses, client development and strategic business planning for their assigned market. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Market analyses and client development

Conduct market analyses determining our corporate and emerging companies and venture capital (ECVC) market share and opportunities within the marketPresent the firm's competitive positioning in the market by conducting research and analysis about our competitors inclusive of lateral activity, thought leadership, events, news/experience and league tablesConduct business intelligence analysis and become well educated on regional clients and prospective clients by analyzing financial, experience, marketing client engagement and competitor representation dataServe as the marketing subject matter expert for the marketClient targeting and new business development

Establish a replicable approach to targeting new business for the regional general corporate and ECVC practice, inclusive of working with our competitive intelligence team on setting criteria, providing research, analyzing data and relationships, and recommending targets and then project managing next steps with involved lawyers, and reporting on resultsDevelop and execute cross-selling strategies, including collaborating with relevant global practice or regional marketing and business development teams in other regionsFor opportunities coming from regional targeting initiatives and client expansion programs, advise lawyers on new business opportunities, and providing support on the development of our approach, team, proposition, and supporting materials (i.e., credentials, targeted events, etc.)Strategic business planning and reporting

Consult with the regional corporate leaders, the partners in charge, the regional litigation leadership, and colleagues in marketing & BD to develop and implement strategic plans and marketing budgets that coordinate with global practice group goals and objectives, setting long and short-term goals for the marketProactively manage implementation and execution of strategic plans with the regional corporate leaders, the partners in charge and regional litigation leadership, including responsibility for periodic meetings, reports, analysis, and progress monitoringProfile raising, marketing campaigns and events

Work with regional business development team members to identify and develop strong relationships with associations and industry organizations that attract and engage prospective clients, influencers, and referral sources in support of business plan goalsDevelop event strategy for the market based on market and competitive analyses and in support of business plan goalsProvide support for seminars, sponsorships, and other events in the marketTrack, measure, analyze, and report on the success of activities with key stakeholdersCollaborate with PR team to advance the profile-raising efforts in the marketPartner with marketing colleagues to facilitate the completion of regional surveys, specific lawyer and practice awards and accoladesSupport integration of lateral lawyers into general corporate or ECVC practices within the marketMaintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, industry conferences, programs, appearances, and other market engagement opportunities, and ensure maximum ROI and appropriate coverage from lawyers and BD professionalsCoordinate closely with global practice group marketing colleagues to understand additional planned activity in assigned market, and to maximize collaboration and ROI on all activitiesAll other duties as assigned or requiredSkills and experience:

Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as requiredAbility to travel, as required5+ years marketing-related experiencePreferred:

Bachelor's degree in marketing or related fieldExperience working in a law firm or other professional services organizationAbility to operate effectively within a matrixed work environmentCompetencies:

Strong project management skills and follow-through abilityDemonstrate great initiative and the ability to work independentlyStrong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels within and outside of the firmTeam oriented with excellent interpersonal and collaborative skillsKeen ability to capture, distill and accurately describe the legal expertise and value of the firm, its practices, and individual attorneys

The expected annual pay range for this position is $125,000 - $170,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
