Note** Open to someone REMOTE in this position within the Eastern or Central time zone due to interaction with team in Germany. If REMOTE, the expectation would be willingness to travel one-week every other month including potentially to Torc EU in Stuttgart, Germany.

Join the Autonomous Driving Kit Hardware Team, where we deliver cutting-edge ECU, EDR, Logging, and Telematics components that are rigorously tested and validated for Torc's autonomous driving trucks. Your role will make a significant impact on the future of trucking and autonomous technology as we look to Drive the Future of Freight. We are currently seeking a Senior Engineering Manager who is enthusiastic about thriving in a hands-on environment and ready to expand their team. In this role you will manage a team through the RFI (Request For Information) and CRS (Component Requirements Specification) phase and handle the RFQ (Request For Quote) process for components such as ADC, the main compute of the truck, and telematics.

Our primary mission revolves around meeting the needs of customers distributed across Torc and Daimler Trucks, all while maintaining a cost-effective design. To accomplish this, we need individuals who can bring innovative ideas, possess a consultative mindset, and foster strong relationships with various teams in the USA, Canada, and Germany.

What you'll do:

The Senior Engineering Manager for the AD-Kit Team will be responsible for component ownership, working cross-functionally to define requirements, developing across the product life cycle, and implementing the latest ECU , EDR, Logging and Telematics systems that drive our autonomous trucks.

Manage a team developing the hardware component to meet functional safety, security, and teleoperation requirements.Manage the component owners for the functional aspects of the AD-Kit hardware within the project organization.Supervise the requirements database in IBM DOORS, ensuring all requirements are documented, traceable, and up to date.Help interpret system-level requirements and specifications to create detailed technical requirements for the different components.Interact with component suppliers for the development.Co-ordinate for the certification and product approval process with different MNOs.Close collaboration with suppliers to understand the component capabilities, track and fix issues and provide clear and concise requirements.Ensuring supplier’s products and services meet the product quality, timeline, and specification needs.Perform problem-solving activities during design, prototypes, and production, driving root cause analysis and problem resolutions.Support the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including specifications, DVPR, and reports.

What you’ll need to succeed:

Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of experience OR Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field and 7+ years of experience.5+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering / electronics engineering5+ years Managerial experience of diverse engineering teams.In-depth understanding of the ADCU hardware and software.Familiarity with ECU diagnostic and programming tools.Experience with requirement management tools, (preferably IBM DOORS Next) for managing project requirements and interdependencies.Experience with data buses such as CAN, Ethernet, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, I 2 CProven experience working in Agile/Scrum teams, with knowledge of Agile methodologies and principles.Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and project deliverables.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to automotive electronics.Willingness to work in an international environment and to communicate across time zones

Bonus Points:

Knowledge of System Architecture of ADAS/AD systems is desirableProven experience as an ECU Development Engineer, preferably within the automotive industry.

US Pay Range

$195,500 — $234,600 USD
