What is This Role?

The Marketing Manager brings a keen eye for design and expertise in harnessing multiple advertising channels to Coney Island Prep's Development Team. They will collaborate with the Director of Development and Communications and the Development Manager on all marketing and fundraising efforts. Together, this team crafts scholar-centered, compelling content to raise awareness, solicit donations, and positively position Coney Island Prep in the community. Managing external messaging, graphic design, photography, and brand awareness are central to the role, as is conveying our mission to drive scholar success in the college and career of their choice. This team member also supports staff and scholar recruitment by overseeing marketing items that include design appeals, social media accounts, and tailoring campaigns based on outcome data. Through this work, you will ensure the success of current and future scholars by spotlighting Coney Island Prep's unique services and impact on our community.

What You'll Be Asked To Do

Graphic Design & Writing (60%)Create graphic design elements and written content for our fundraising, community engagement, alumni, and staff and student recruitment efforts; items may include invitations, website banners, flyers, and mailers in print or digital mediaOrganize and design standardized templates for broad institutional use such as flyers, letterhead, and branding kitsCraft compelling content about Coney Island Prep, its scholars, families, and staff, effectively sharing our vision, mission, and impact through our website, monthly newsletters, and donor stewardship effortsManage the communications calendar to ensure stakeholders are consistently receiving mission-aligned materials through email, direct mail, and social mediaSocial Media & Website (20%)

Drive social media strategy, prepare content, and manage all accounts including LinkedIn, Meta (Facebook & Instagram), and TikTok and act as a liaison for all messages that are delivered through social media accountsSource content, by building systems to collaborate with school staff, and spending sufficient time on campus to understand the context, in order to highlight the stories and strengths of our staff and studentsEnsures CIP social media content is predictable and responsive to campus and current events by creating and posting highly engaging posts, stories, reels, and other content; proactively plan to ensure alignment with the department set strategyPrepare fundraising pages for coinciding fundraising events and campaignsUpdate website content, calendars and staffing pages, public reporting of monthly Board minutes; work with web developers when neededMarketing & Data Analytics (10%)

Work alongside internal departments to create and roll out marketing strategies elevating their core message to achieve goalsAnalyze and track effectiveness of strategies through key metrics such as leads, impressions, visits, open and click-through ratesLeverage data to fine-tune paid advertising, content, audience, and spend to achieve desired outcomesPhoto & Video (5%)

Take photos at key staff and scholar events for social mediaManage photography for key organizational events and projectsBuild institutional memory around photo/video by ensuring all content is stored in one easy-to-access platform, tagged, and organized in line with best practicesManage coordination logistics for video projects, including booking videographers and reserving areas on campuses for filming use with ample planning and limited disruption to school operationsTrimming videos produces by videographers for social media, website, and emailsBranding & Event Support (5%)

Maintain internal branding guidelines and incorporate any needed annual updates; train staff on changes annuallyBuild institutional memory around branding projects and updatesUpdate internal letterhead, powerpoint, and all other templates on an annual basisManage internal marketing items such as business cards, signage for org-wide and campus eventsWork closely with each campus to gather information/assets and to support special events and campaignsAssist with other events-related tasksWhat You Will Need

Coney Island Prep is a college preparatory public charter school in Brooklyn, New York. Merging growth, performance, and commitment, the Coney Island Prep community takes its responsibility to prepare scholars for the college and career of their choice very seriously, but not ourselves. Coney Island Prep currently serves over 1,300 scholars across its four schools, including:

Benefits and Compensation

Employees at Coney Island Prep are provided with salaries that are set through a lens of equity and based on an individual's skills and experiences relevant to the role. The salary range for this position is from $70,000 - 85,000As a regular, full time employee of Coney Island Prep you will be eligible for benefits that include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance as well as a 403(b) retirement benefit package with match and Paid Family LeaveStaff are provided with a MacBook Air and access to all the necessary technology and resources needed to succeed in their role
