Job Summary

As co-administrator, assists the Principal in effectively managing and coordinating the educational program of the school including instruction, student discipline, personnel, facilities, and technical resources.

Job Description / Essential Elements:

Position Title:

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Reports to: Principal

Functions: As co-administrator, assists the Principal in effectively managing and coordinating the educational program of the school including instruction, student discipline, personnel, facilities, and technical resources.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Assists the Principal in the most effective use of the human, technical, and fiscal resources allocated to the school.

Coordinates the effective use of funding in school improvement measures which include accelerated learning strategies for improving academic performance, monitoring of attendance and follow-up, culturally sensitive family outreach and support, career awareness, and social, emotional, and health support services.

Assists the Principal in meeting academic targets, goals, and objectives as set by the Superintendent/Board.

Monitors student placements in appropriate programs including the ELD Program, Title I, interventions, Special Education, etc.

Assists the Principal in the use of test scores as well as formative assessments to improve teacher and student performance.

Collaborates with and assists the Principal in staff development, supervision, and evaluation of staff.

Assists the Principal in all aspects of school operations.

Coordinates the implementation of the school-wide discipline plan and positive behavior intervention supports.

Coordinates and facilitates parent and community involvement in school activities.

Coordinates and facilitates school meetings such as: Student Study Team, Open House, School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), parent group meetings, staff meetings, and school tours.

Assists the Principal in building cultural awareness and appreciation of ethnic and linguistic differences as reflected in the larger community.

Assures that articulation occurs among the school and linkages with outside agencies.

Assumes full responsibility for the school in the Principal's absence.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Appropriate California Administrative Credential or be eligible for an Administrative Intern Credential

Master's degree

Three years of successful teaching experience

Demonstrated leadership skills and organizational skills

Ability to express ideas clearly in oral and written communications

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

SALARY PLACEMENT: Certificated Management Salary Schedule

WORK YEAR: 210 days/12 months

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the administrative evaluation process.

Requirements / Qualifications

Required Qualifications:•Administrative Tier 1 Credential or eligibility•Master's Degree•3 years of successful teaching

Preferred Qualifications:Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese

Minimum Qualifications:•California Administrative Services Credential or Certificate of Eligibility for the Administrative Services Credential•Three years successful teaching experience
