JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for all design drawing preparation necessary to support client projects as it pertains to mechanical piping. Must work closely with Lead Designers and Project Managers and other team members. Contributes as part of the design team to ensure the productive use of AutoCAD in preparing facility design packages for natural gas, natural gas liquids, oil, CO2 and other products associated with the oil and gas industry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for layout, design, general arrangement and P&ID's of facilities utilizing company and/or client standards and meeting project/client design requirements using industry standard tools and techniques. Coordinates with other disciplines supporting the projects which may include mapping, engineering, civil drafting, electrical drafting and project management. Analyzes various design requirements and recommends possible solutions Consults with project managers, engineers, designers and other stakeholders as projects develop for design details and information. Develops and maintains drawing control for each project. Prepares plot plans, enlarged piping plans, sections and detail drawings and bill of material drawings associated in piping drawing packages. Using P&ID's and Plot Plans as reference, commences detailed piping drawings. Establishes nozzle orientations of vessels and tanks; structural, platform and pipe rack needs; routing for primary and secondary piping; maintenance and operating clearances. Accountable for self-checking drawings to ensure acceptable levels of quality before submitting for peer review and squad checking. Accountable for QA/QC - checking the work of other designers and draftsmen. Accountable for initiating peer review requests for drawings prepared and making corrections or changes identified through peer review. Accountable for actively participating in squad checks to prevent interference of piping and mechanical equipment layout with the layouts prepared by electrical, civil, instrumentation and controls, and other design disciplines OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
Responsible for all Drawing Package Issues, including Issue for Approval, Issue for Bid, Issued for Construction, and Issue for As-Built. Oversees printing and plotting requirements for each project. Responsible for keeping the design manager, design leads and affected project managers informed of any changes that have occurred which may influence resource requirements and/or the ability to meet the project schedule. Completes as-built drawings during and after construction completion. Actively participates in lessons learned initiatives to identify and implement process and project improvement opportunities. Obtains and maintains proficiency in AutoCAD platforms and programs associated with piping layout and design. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Possesses knowledge and ability to apply a practical understanding of piping and equipment systems associated with the oil and gas industry. Possesses ability to move from design concept to finished design, including layouts and detail drawings. Ability to use general math, geometry and algebra as it applies to drawing production. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to multi-task and manage projects to meet specific deadlines. Adopts and sustains an attitude of zero tolerance for defects in design deliverables. Demonstrates unwavering commitment to continuous improvement. Proficiency in AutoCAD through version 2017 Proficiency in CADWorx Plant Professional and CADWorx PID Professional through version 2017- including the ability to write and maintain CADWorx Specifications EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
5+ years in the design of compressor stations, meter stations, regulating stations, gas and liquids processing plants, valve assemblies and other related facilities. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Associates degree or equivalent experience in mechanical AutoCAD design
