News Production Manager 

KOAT, the ABC affiliate in Albuquerque, NM has an opening for an experienced and dynamic News Production Manager. In this position, the News Production Manager will lead, oversee, and manage the production team. This position includes directing live newscasts. As a newscast director, this position communicates and executes all technical aspects of live production, with all technical staff, including the Producer, Technical Director, Audio Operator, Studio, Master Control and Engineering. You will report to the News Director.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a production team of 16 employees
  • Scheduling and coordinating special events
  • Hiring, coaching/mentoring, and training 
  • Provide technical support to the staff with newscast production equipment
  • Direct live newscasts
  • Provide creative input and will work with the newscast Producer and Production crew
  • Be responsible for clean technical execution of newscasts

Requirements

  • Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations pertaining to Master Control operations and on-air station logs
  • Must be energetic, positive and a great team builder and leader
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • 2+ years directing and technical directing a newscast
  • Have experience with newscast production equipment including switchers, studio robotics and master control automation
  • Understanding of newsroom systems including ENPS and Bitcentral
  • Technical know-how to resolve existing issues and to work around problems that arise during live news
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Can work flexible hours and shifts, including holidays and weekends
  • Related military experience will be considered
  • In-person attendance is required
