Microsoft’s Health & Life Sciences Solutions team is seeking a Senior UX Researcher, Health & Life Sciences to join the Product Evolution & Inovation team. This team is leading the delivery of first party solutions and applications to health & life sciences clients powered by Microsoft Azure and AI to transform how we work and bring Microsoft’s mission of empowering every person and organization on the planet to achieve more to life.

This Health & Life Sciences UX Researcher role will sit on the newly formed Product Evolution & Innovation team in the HLS sector, reporting to a Principal Product Manager on the Strategy & Incubation team, with role visibility to the Strategy & Incubation lead. This team will play a critical role in defining new paths for existing products, in line with the mission for continuous innovation. A successful candidate will exhibit a demonstrable track record of owning and driving UX for various products and making a measurable product and business impact. You have a keen ear for user’s needs, and you can map them to product experiences that are aligned to business strategies. You have deep experience with UX best practices, and you know what it takes to execute and deliver in a fast-paced environment. You are a partner to other teams and not afraid to roll up your sleeves.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities Include:

Conduct research that identifies and clarifies who the customer is and the critical parts of their context in order to inform product strategy and user experience direction for a feature area, product, product line, or service.

Develop and maintain a compelling and frictionless user journey for all user groups that engage with potential MSFT PE&I solutions and platform services. Validate using qualitative and quantitative user feedback.

Contribute to the data-driven formation of the solution and alignment to meet customer needs for a feature area, product, product line, or service by partnering with product management, design, and engineering. Address business needs while making a business case for research to leadership in partner organizations.

Partner with product management, engineering, and the customer success organization to measure product usage using UX metrics and seek alignment on how product roadmap capabilities will move the needle on the key metrics (e.g. product survey metrics, crash reports, NPS, social media)

Produce research-driven insights on industry/vertical trends to reduce uncertainty for conditions that may impact future initiatives in PE&I and HLS. Determine the risk associated with technology uncertainty for future initiatives by conducting new and/or foraging for existing research for a feature area, product, product line, or service.

Create and leverage communication methods that promote an emotional connection to a customer and convey real user stories that reveal customer insights. Communicate insights to effectively influence product direction with relevant stakeholders and leadership that impact business.

Qualifications

Required/ Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 4+ years User Experience Research experience

OR Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 3+ years User Experience Research experience

OR Doctorate in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 1+ year(s) User Experience Research experience

OR equivalent experience.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

5+ years relevant experience working on software solutions within the provider or provider services space

Proven storytelling and communication skills across leadership, engineering teams, designers, customers, and partners.

Ability to plan and execute research against business needs.

Experience conducting research globally and working with global stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to impact and influence business decisions across boundaries, often in an ever-changing environment situations.

An ability to form a point of view by quickly and effectively analyzing research data and presenting rich findings simply and clearly to influence product design and direction.

Recognized training and expertise in multiple research techniques.

Experience in the healthcare UX research space a plus.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

UX Research IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
