Amazon is seeking an SEO Manager to manage the Search Engine Optimization for AboutAmazon.com. This role is part of the Owned Content & Channels team, which sits within Amazon’s communications org. Our website, About Amazon, aims to be the first and most trusted source of news and information about Amazon for external audiences.

As SEO Manager you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing our site’s SEO strategy. You will create strategic SEO plans, grow organic search traffic, and support content creation and management.

This role requires deep Search Engine Optimization knowledge and a minimum of five years SEO experience. You have a deep understanding of technical SEO; you understand how Google crawl’s web pages and are able to identify opportunities to improve site visibility in search engines. You will be responsible for assessing and managing the technical health of our SEO strategy. You also know how to analyze data and use it to develop strategic plans that align with business goals.

This person should not only be passionate about search technology and digital marketing, but also have a strong understanding of digital storytelling and know how to use search to find content opportunities. The ideal candidate has a background at a digital news publication or experience with digital editorial content and will help the team identify opportunities for storytelling by diving into SEO research, analyzing content gaps, and providing guidance to lay out a game plan.

Although this person will primarily focus on the U.S. About Amazon website, they will also help provide SEO guidance and develop best practices for all 15 global About Amazon websites. This role will own search strategy across a global collection of websites and will need to work closely with a wide variety of partners around the world across multiple languages.

This candidate is curious and analytical, and is a great communicator and collaborator who can work with stakeholders across teams. They will work with our in-house editorial, production and data teams as well as stakeholders across the company. They should be a strategic global thinker, goal oriented, and enjoy working in a fast-paced start-up culture.

Key job responsibilities

• Create a detailed SEO strategy focused on organic search for the AboutAmazon.com website.

• Develop global SEO best practices and share with global About Amazon teams.

• Understand customer search behavior and provide guidance to teams to help them meet customers where they are.

• Develop an SEO strategy for both new and evergreen stories.

• Build an SEO reporting process and cadence, with regular reports tailored for leadership, peer teams, and PR partners.

• Analyze keywords and SEO techniques used by competitors and identify industry trends.

• Create SEO briefs for incorporating search language into web pages.

• Develop and implement link and traffic building strategies.

• Demonstrate good story judgment and proactively identify opportunities to win keywords for specific stories and topics.

• Work with editorial teams to develop and implement initiatives that maximize organic search engagement.

• Keep updated on industry trends and best practices.

Basic Qualifications

6+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience

Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements

Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)

Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

5+ years of search engine optimization experience, increasing traffic.

Experience with SEO and data tools, including SEMRush, Google Search Console, Parse.ly or Adobe Analytics, Content Management Systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience driving direction and alignment with large cross-functional teams and agency partners

Product management experience, comfort working with technical and non-technical teams.

Experience working at a digital news publication or with digital editorial content.

Proven track record assuming ownership, moving quickly to implement ideas, and delivering results and in a fast-paced online environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent story judgment and interest in story-telling.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
