Authorization Referral Specialist; Float Position for Several Clinics; 80 hours

Overview:
The Centralized Scheduling/Auth Referral Specialist Medical Assistant is responsible for the following: answering calls coming into the call center, scheduling all Clinic offices for daily appointments, scheduling hospital tests excluding surgeries, & ensuring authorizations are obtained and documented.The Centralized Scheduling/Auth Referral Specialist Medical Assistant reports directly to the Patient Financial Services Director.Responsibilities:1. Reviews each departments schedule and obtains authorization if required and notates it in ARM. If any additional information is needed before the test will be notated on account.2. Works daily ARM work list for scheduled appointments for hospital and ancillary services.3. Verifies insurance coverage and obtains pre-certification and authorization on inpatient, outpatient, and recurring accounts.4. Answers all calls coming into the call center.5. Schedules Clinical and Hospital appointments.6. Document in Meditech system any action taken on all patients accounts.7. All other duties as assigned.Qualifications:1. Education:a. High School Graduate preferred2. Licensure/Certification:a. None required.3. Work Experience:a. Minimum 1-year experience providing clinical information to insurance companies required.b. Experience in answering phone calls in a medical setting required.c. Experience in scheduling appointments.d. Experience obtaining authorizations and referrals required
