Under general supervision, the Tourism, Marketing and Events Manager manages a comprehensive program of tourism development and promotion for Gloucester County. Oversees operation of the Tourism division of the department to include preservation and interpretation of historical resources and structures. Employee manages overall implementation of marketing strategies for the parks and recreation divisions of the department. Employee manages, supervises, and implements all departmental special events including, the annual Gloucester Daffodil Festival.

Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with volunteers, employees, business representatives, agency representatives, and the general public.

Employee reports to the Director of Parks, Recreation & Tourism.Job Highlights

Develops cooperative working relationships with business and other tourism representatives to share information to better promote Gloucester as a tourism destination.Plans new research-based advertising strategies for current and subsequent years to increase public awareness and visitation.Works with County staff, administration, and private contractors on historic building rehabilitation and improvement projects.Supervises historical and tourism functions, including the Museum of History and the Visitor Center and Gift Shop.Manages and oversees marketing initiatives for the Department, including websites, social media, the Beehive, and other media.Performs grant research at local, state, and federal levels. Assists the Director with applications and management of grants.Develops, plans, coordinates, and manages new events to attract more out-of-town participants; composes press releases and programs for promotion of such events.Oversees the planning and organization of the annual Daffodil Festival. Works with the Festival Coordinator and volunteers to establish the schedule of events while providing leadership and guidance regarding County policies and procedures, budget and use of County facilities and equipment.Attends meetings and handles administrative and financial concerns in the absence of the Director.Performs other related work as required.For a complete job description, click link

Tourism, Marketing & Events ManagerQualifications

Possession of a bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, tourism, history, or closely related field. Master's Degree preferred.Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, special events, public relations, or tourism, and three (3) years of management experience.Any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Special Requirements

Possession of a valid driver's license; possess and maintain a driving record that meets established Gloucester County Driving Standards.
