The Position:

MTI is looking to for a Staff UX Designer to play a critical role in design strategy for the digital products for our end-user. In this role, the individual will work with other designers, researchers, and developers to understand the mission need and design compelling, intuitive, and effective user interfaces.

Your Responsibilities:

• Lead the design of intuitive and compelling user interfaces through a user-centered design process, balancing technical functionality and visual aesthetics.

• Work closely with product management and engineering teams to translate system requirements and user needs into innovative and detailed UX designs.

• Conduct UX research and usability testing to validate design concepts, incorporating feedback into iterations of the design.

• Understand and analyze user interaction data to inform design decisions.

• Utilize your understanding of systems engineering to ensure UX designs are feasible, efficient, and integrated smoothly into our existing systems.

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of a UX design system and standards, ensuring consistency across all product lines.

• Communicate design rationales and functional specifications effectively to stakeholders and team members.

• Mentor junior designers, promoting a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the design team.

• Apply user-centered design processes to evaluate existing systems and to create new designs.

• Create user flows to understand and communicate user needs.

• Translate user research into robust wireframes and mockups.

• Communicate your design process and the reasoning behind your design decisions to stakeholders, the development team, and our customers.

• Rapidly prototype and iterate design mockups.

• Create mockups using existing design systems or from scratch.

• Own designs for several features.

• Participate in design reviews and assist in user testing processes.

• Assist in driving alignment on design problems, goals, strategies, and priorities.

• Advocate for the user in every stage of system development.

• Advocate for User-Centered Design processes and help those you encounter, especially those unfamiliar with software development and UX processes, to understand why they are important.

• Lead UX design for the agile team you're on.

Your Experience

Must be a United States citizen

- this is a requirement of our government customers.Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university in a related discipline (design, human factors, psychology, computer science, etc.).16+ years of demonstrated experience as a UX designer, UX researcher, human factors engineer, or similar.Proficiency in Systems EngineeringProficiency with design tools like Adobe CC (especially XD), Figma, Axure, Sketch, etc.Expert in UX and User-Centered Design processes.Ability to work with ambiguous design requirements for complex systems.Experience facilitating design workshops with users, engineers, and customers to refine designs and understand requirements.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Experience leading design teams or as a task leadOur Benefits
