POSITION SUMMARY:
The Library Associate ensures smooth and efficient operation of the library and sets daily priorities based on knowledge of the overall function of the library and performs work as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATION - EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE:Education and experience equivalent to high school graduationPrevious relevant experience in elementary library settingESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meet monthly with the school librarian to review the library programCoordinates the school media program with the district and community organizationsPlans, initiates and carries to completion organizational and secretarial activities related to the operation of the school's libraryMaintains student library usage records and accounts including overdue notices and the collection of finesShelves books and other library materialsMaintains library materials inventory as directed by the teacher librarianReceives and processes new library materialsWorks with teachers in locating library materials that will enhance the curriculumAssists students locate and check out library materialsSupervises students assigned to scheduled check out timesAbility to exercise tact, good judgment, and initiative in dealing with students, faculty, and the publicAbility to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writingHas polite communication skills and a can-do attitudeDemonstrates proficiency in the use of Destiny and other computer programs essential to the positionHas the ability to work efficiently under minimum supervisionOrganize special school events that promote reading such as a Book FairMaintains an aesthetically pleasing and organized media centerAny other duties as assigned
