Direct Hire100% Remote - candidates must be located within the United States.Not able to support candidates that require sponsorship at this time.As a Senior z/OS Systems Programmer specializing in Communication Server, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our mainframe network infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our z/OS communication environment, including VTAM, TCP/IP, SNA, Sysplex, and related technologies.Key Responsibilities:Manage and administer z/OS Communication Server components, including VTAM, TCP/IP, SNA, Parallel Sysplex, Sysplex Distributor, and z/OS Cryptographic Services.Configure and maintain communication protocols such as VTAM, TCP/IP, and SNA to optimize network performance and reliability.Implement and support secure communication protocols including AT-TLS (z/OS Policy Agent-ATTLS), SSL, SFTP, FTPS, and Connect Direct.Manage and troubleshoot HTTP server environments (Apache) and develop/customize Apache modules as needed.Collaborate with application teams to integrate z/OS Communication Server technologies with z/OS WebSphere Servers and other middleware solutions.Develop and maintain JCL, REXX, and Java scripts for automation and customization purposes.Utilize z/OS Unix System Services for integrating mainframe applications with distributed environments.Monitor system performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize network throughput and response times.Provide expertise and support in mainframe networking technologies and assist in capacity planning and disaster recovery planning.Stay current with industry trends and advancements in mainframe communication technologies to recommend and implement best practices.Requirements:Minimum 4+ years of experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer with a specialization in Communication Server technologies.Proficiency in VTAM, TCP/IP, SNA, Parallel Sysplex, Sysplex Distributor, z/OS Cryptographic Services, and related mainframe networking technologies.Hands-on experience with z/OS Communication Server components including AT-TLS, SFTP, FTPS, Connect Direct, and HTTP Server (Apache).Strong programming skills in JCL, REXX, and Java with the ability to develop and customize scripts for automation and system customization.Experience with z/OS Unix System Services and integration with distributed environments.Excellent knowledge and use of z/OS components with detailed knowledge of supporting hardware.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in a mainframe environment.Strong leadership, time management and organizational skills.Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.Eager to build professional relationships with staff and clients.Ability to work unsupervised and independently seek out and interact with colleagues and outside vendors.Ability to understand & facilitate decision-making on key issues concerning a project.Capability to shuffle priorities in response to a changing workload.Flexibility to keep up with changing technology.
