Overview

The Video Conferencing Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, configuration, implementation, testing and transition to steady state support of Video Conferencing solution supported by infrastructure such as; network, telecommunication, server, storage or software across the enterprise. They will partner with peer engineering teams on best practices, process, standards, and configuration management. The Engineer evaluates vendor supplied hardware, components and software packages for fit and performance and makes recommendations to IT management. This individual modifies and/or debugs vendor-supplied utilities and packages. The Engineer maintains technical documentation for Video Conferencing systems and platform (Zoom) and associated technologies that support the implementation. The Engineer diagnoses isolates and debugs hardware and software problems and performs problem resolution. The role is responsible for delivering solutions that are stable, secure, scalable and cost effective, as well providing escalation support to the administrators.

Specialized Skills and Technologies

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Knowledge of other MS Office Suite and software applications

Expert level knowledge of the Zoom platform including cloud service, desktop application, and Zoom Room capabilities

Experience in design and implementation of Video Conferencing solutions services and familiarity with QSC, Sennheiser, and Neat hardware

Experience and working knowledge of Service Now

Technical knowledge and skills as required for Tier 3 support

Demonstrated understanding and awareness of the ITIL

Problem management process and procedures

Capability to understand SGWS application portfolio and how the different systems contribute to daily business operations

Experience with components of IT infrastructure including remote access (VPN), remote support tools, laptops, and wireless device

Primary Responsibilities

Dallas or Miramar only

Participate in on call rotation

Up to 25% Travel

Coaches others

Research, evaluate and recommend Video Conferencing related software and hardware products and services

Perform capacity and resource planning for Video Conferencing systems

Assess risks and perform contingency planning

Provide input to supplier management team to help establish the Video Conferencing related vendor service agreements

Install, configure, and maintain Video Conferencing systems (hardware and software)

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues (tier two support)

Provide input to supplier management team to help manage Video Conferencing related vendor service level agreements

Stay up-to-date on Video Conferencing platforms and hardware related technologies

Serve as a technical resource for infrastructure initiatives that require Video Conferencing expertise

Preferred Qualifications

4+ years of experience in Infrastructure engineering role as it relates to the hardware and software components that align to technologies supported at Southern Glazers

Provide accurate and timely updates to work tickets, incidents, and outages

ITIL Foundation certified

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Technical degree in related field or equivalent experience

4+ years of work experience in an Infrastructure or technical function

Excellent verbal / written communication skills, strong attention to detail
