Design Director - Sports Brand

Contract Duration 6+ MonthsPay range $55.09 - $77/hr

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced, innovative, and collaborative conceptual Design Director to oversee visual storytelling, art and design creative on the Sports Brand team.This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the next phase of the client Brand and build long-lasting emotional connections with consumers.As the Design Director, you will be responsible for partnering with a Creative Director and copywriter to develop and execute the client's brand positioning and strategy.You'll give the conceptual brand work visual life and ensure all work is on-brief, on-brand, and on-time.You'll lead the design direction of 360, sports brand-centric campaigns that will drive customer acquisition, engagement, and retention across all the channels that create and foster genuine brand love for the client.This role will partner closely with the internal Brand marketing team as well as our client's Sports Marketing, Creative, and Design counterparts to maximize the impact of marketing opportunities through breakthrough, brand-defining creative.The team will also work with best-in-class external partners to create the most impactful, compelling, and talked about collaborations and activations in sports that will allow the client to unlock new channels and engage with new audiences.

The Person

You are an experienced, ambitious, passionate design expert who will conceptualize, craft, and execute big, bold, culturally relevant, innovative creative work that will reverberate across the industry.You take big conceptual swings on ideas that are grounded in the needs of the business and help drive both short-term and long-term KPIs.You'll bring a deep experience in art & design principles, brand creative marketing, and a compelling point-of-view and perspective on what makes truly great work across a variety of design disciplines.You thrive on building authentic, truly collaborative partner relationships.You're passionate about conceptual design and animation for every medium from AV, digital, and social assets to OOH billboards to sizzles and hype reels to merch and everything in between.You operate at the intersection of sports and culture, with a keen understanding of how sports can connect with audiences on a personal, deeper, emotional level. Whether it's the NFL, Premier League, Olympics, or Big 10, you understand the power of fandom and how to unlock it to create true brand love.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

10+ years of experience designing for in-house or studio/agency partner teams; link to the online portfolio of work that showcases your unbridled design passion required.A deep design background, with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in concept and entertainment design, typography, layout, form, motion design, and composition.Experience collaborating with and designing for creative marketing campaigns with best-in-class Brand partners.You've designed for screens, live events, social, merch, and multimedia spaces.A proven history of designing breakthrough 360 campaigns across all platforms for a challenger brand in order to differentiate in a crowded marketplace.Direct experience building relationships and collaborating with cross-functional partners (media, marketing, creative ops), internal creatives (CDs, writers, producers), and external agency partners.Expert-level knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, high level of proficiency in After Effects, video motion graphics and compositing, and 3D skills in Cinema the client.Proficient compositing FX skills (green screen, keying, tracking, rotoscoping).

Strong track record of success building and leading passionate and talented creative design teams.Proven ability to proactively solve creative problems, self-motivate, and work independently as well as collaboratively.An exceptionally creative thinker and communicator with an inquisitive mind who is comfortable and passionate about the intersection of creativity, strategy, media, marketing, consumer insights, and design.Ability to influence at all levels of an organization, utilizing interpersonal skills and the ability to work flexibly across departments as well as manage internal and external partners in a dynamic and high-pressure environment; able to evangelize the brand design system & champion creative work across cross-functional teams, including senior leadership.Extensive experience making creative decisions in real-time based on qualitative and quantitative research, analyzing performance data, and applying that information to creative design work accordingly.Strong track record of interacting and working with multiple stakeholders and partnering collaboratively with brand creative, marketing, partnerships, creative ops, and consumer insights teams.Exceptional presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.Knowledge of video editing, and video production equipment, including cinema cameras, and still photography, is a plus.Adept at using web pages and applications, such as HTML and CSS.
