We are looking for a Director of Technical Design for a top intimates apparel company in New York, New York. As the Director of Technical Design, you will oversee and lead the technical fit process including in person and remote fittings, technical specifications and standards. You will strive to optimize the design process by identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to the process that are more streamlined and efficient. Will work in our New York office with some flexibility for hybrid.
Responsibilities:Direct the operation of the Fit Process to ensure highest level of quality and consistency in fit and construction.Manage workflow for the department, allocating resources to ensure priorities are at the forefront and deadlines are met.Develop and enforce technical pre-production procedures to ensure expeditiously smooth workflow.Provide cost engineering ideas to Design and VP of Costing and Product Development as needed.Collaborate with VP of Manufacturing and Director of Material and Product Performance to resolve quality problems and establish preventive measures.Work with factories on resolution of questions, providing guidance on best sewing practices and adapting our specs to meet their capabilities.Lead Specification Technicians' team on all facets of evaluations of factory-made garments (FIT/PP/Prod/In-Line).
Required Qualifications:
Degree in Technical Design w/ lingerie expertise10+ years in technical designExperience in Intimate apparel including Molded brasStrong sense of team philosophy, strong management, leadership skills, and decision-making skillsTraining and/or understanding of computerized pattern-making system (Lectra/Gerber or similar).Knowledgeable in basic Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word Perfect, Outlook)Good Communications skills - Express ideas clearly verbally and in writingOrganizational skills and attention to detail, ability to work under pressure
