EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university is required; Master's degree preferredMust hold a Valid North Carolina teaching licenseMinimum of 5 year of successful teaching experience within the specified content area as well as program coordination experience

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans, implements, and evaluates an educational program relevant to the needs of the student population in Onslow County Schools;Plans for and supervises curriculum development and implementation, and the provision of centralized instructional services;Supervises and directs the work of instructional coaches, specialists, and resource teachers;Provides advice and counsel for instructional coaches and principals on matters pertaining to instruction;Plans and implements staff development programs for school staffs;Participates in regularly scheduled staff, district, regional, and school level meetings;Plans and oversees summer curriculum writing;Helps schools and instructional coaches analyze data and identify appropriate re-teaching methods and strategies;Directs the planning, development, field-testing, and evaluation of curriculum;Assists with family and community engagement events around content areas;Assists Onslow County Schools with the selection of appropriate textbooks, teacher guides and other instructional materials and equipment;Directs the publication and provision of division-wide instructional-related staff development, including in-service training designed to support implementation of newly developed curricula;Designs and oversees the development of curriculum to support the implementation of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study;Supervises preparation of curricular content for instructional materials catalog;Supervises development of instructional guidelines, policies, regulations, and official notices;Manages the preparation of office budget requests and monitors expenditures;Interprets changes to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study informing instructional coaches and principals of the implications of those changes and ensuring that instruction is aligned with curriculum goals;Assists with the overall evaluation of district initiatives and programs and develops strategies for improvement; coordinates and provides staff a variety of district-wide professional development opportunities andPerforms other duties and responsibilities related to instruction as assigned by supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to be physically active, which includes, but is not limited to standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, walking.Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely.Ability to operate technology for prolonged periods of time.Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies and materials.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally.Must be able to visually and orally communicate with staff and students.Must be able to drive to variety of school sites.Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
