The Senior Technical Designer is responsible for ensuring that the brand fit, desired appearance, and quality construction standards are met and maintained. They lead the day-to-day work of the technical design team to enhance and evolve processes and procedures as the business evolves, broadening lower-level staff technical knowledge and expertise, while continually striving to elevate the quality of the product. The Senior Technical Designer collaborates with the Tech Design team to establish specifications for garments.

Crew Position:

Completes design specification packages through the creation of graded specifications, construction standards, detail sketches and matches the Bill of Materials (BOM) with garment construction information.Leads fit sessions on live model or mannequin and supports other Technical Designers in facilitation of fit sessions. Oversees key fittings to ensure standardization and timely approval of all samples, addressing technical issues and errors from garment evaluations and guides recommendations for improvements including pattern adjustments.Works with team to enhance and evolve processes and procedures, as business evolves, while driving to elevate the quality of the product. Supports the development of tools (patterns, blocks, etc.) to achieve optimal and consistent fit. Builds audit mechanisms to consistently monitor and check fit, both pre- and post- production.Provides technical direction to lower-level technical designers on matters pertaining to specs, pattern, construction methods and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall quality of the garment.Ensures product lifecycle calendar dates are met for all development and garment fit approvals.Identifies potential production, quality and costing issues and make recommendations to ensure brand integrity.Anticipates and resolves any problems with the fit process. Partners with OPIL and/or vendors in the resolution of problems as necessary.Attends cross functional meetings raising any issues that pertain to vendor, quality, and/or timeline concerns.Coaches and trains new associates in the technical design responsibilities, expectations, and the process cycle.You will love this job if you...

Bachelor's degree in fashion design, patternmaking or equivalentGenerally, 8+ years' experience with fabric and garment construction and manufacturing processes.Expert in specification package creation and garment development comments.Extensive knowledge of grading skills, pattern making, fit, balance, and garment construction, fabrics and fabric performance.Adobe Illustrator expert.Advanced knowledge/experience with Optitex or comparable software.Advanced knowledge with FLEX PLM system or comparable software.Experienced in managing projects that require the ability to flex as obstacles are presented
