Position Overview

Kolar, located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, is an award-winning team that specializes in bridging best-in-class interiors, brand experience, and spatial design—built on measurable insights that spark positive change.Kolar is currently hiring a Designer for Environmental Graphic Design who is responsible for delivering thoughtful, innovative, and transformative solutions in the built environment. We are looking for a trailblazer that is invested in ownership of project delivery in support of the organization’s strategic direction, vision, and values.Our Designers work in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary teams within a variety of Sectors (including Academic, Civic, Corporate, Healthcare, and Mixed Use) to design meaningful experiences which reflect our client’s brands.

This position requires a highly creative problem solver, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, who is collaborative and curious.Objective & Responsibilities of the rolePerform analysis of research / benchmarking to understand project/client/industry / regulatory parameters in order to develop successful design solutions.Develop holistically integrated concepts, approaches, and solutions appropriate for project parameters and goals.Develop design options appropriate for project goals and aligned with project strategy.Proactively consider materiality/fabrication methods/production of artwork / other applicable Building Industry Regulations and project budget/timeframes when developing solutions.Communicate design intent to the implementation team for accurate specification documentation and artwork to be created.Assist in the resolution of Requests for Information during Construction Administration.Develop and nurture relationships with project partners, increasing the likelihood of referrals/recommendations, and project quality/success.Responsible for clear and timely communication to internal project peers, external clients, and partners successfully describing concepts, building consensus, and obtaining needed inputs/decisions.Provide coaching to team members in your area of expertise.Consistently use available resources efficiently in completing assigned deliverables.

Record your own time and expenses.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in design or architecture3-5 years of demonstrated experience in creating environmental graphics, branded experiences, and/or signage and wayfinding projectsDemonstrated competency in all phases of environmental graphicsAbility to coordinate custom solutions with fabricator and installerUnderstanding of branding concepts and the potential for their application to, relationship with and integration into the built environmentHighly developed interpersonal skills; verbal, listening, and written communication, including successful client presentation skillsHighly creative with excellent problem-solving skills.Strong overall three-dimensional visioning skills and the ability to design in scaleCollaborative and curiousExpert use of design software technology (Adobe suite, CAD tools, Sketchup) and business software technology (Microsoft Office suite)Align with Company ValuesBe Transformative.
