Job Summary

The Web Designer will oversee website design, daily web maintenance and updates, and marketing graphics. This position will report to the Senior IT Specialist in the Office of Research Information Systems and will work closely with the Vice President for Research Marketing and Communications team, with responsibilities and efforts shared between these two offices. This is a hybrid office position requiring on-campus presence for staff meetings and events, with the flexibility to work from home on designated days of the week.

Responsibilities

The Web Designer will oversee the following:

Design and construct web pages/sites, incorporating graphic user interface ( GUI ) features and other techniques. ·

Maintain and provide ongoing design for web pages, email campaigns, newsletters, and social media posts to ensure a cohesive and engaging online presence.

Manage and prioritize multiple design projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes while maintaining communication with stakeholders.

Create and design promotional materials, ad banners, logos, and other graphical marketing assets to support various marketing campaigns and brand initiatives.

Work closely with stakeholders to create, update, and maintain departmental websites, with a preference for knowledge of WordPress or Modern Campus CMS .

Adhere to University branding guidelines and standards.

Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Engage with stakeholders and develop positive relationships.

Plan projects in advance and ensure stakeholders are always updated throughout the project process.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalency in a related area and 2-4 years of experience in the field or a related area. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Submission of a portfolio of web designs/graphic artwork is required. Please upload in “Applicant Document – Other”

Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for websites and graphic design. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Applicants must have a working knowledge of HTML .

Preferences

Strong portfolio showcasing a range of graphic design work, including promotional materials, ad banners, and logos.

Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

Knowledge of WordPress and/or Modern Campus CMS for website management and updates.
