This person will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team to proactively lead strategic plans and drive storytelling in service of Nike narratives to an audience of media, employees and consumers. This position will engage directly with athletes and their teams; and represent the brand at major sports moments. This includes Nike’s most influential athletes, teams, federations and leagues globally.The right candidate has extensive experience driving communications strategy, is highly collaborative, exhibits high-level critical thinking and can manage multiple and competing priorities. The ability to access and apply knowledge of consumer and media insights, trends and intelligence is a requirement. A passion for sports, athletes and communities will help the right candidate engage with the work more authentically at Nike.This person will be an outstanding communications professional with a demonstrated track record of success, preferably working for a large consumer brand and/or communications agency. Key competencies of the role include excellent written and verbal communications skills, ability to react and respond to global news stories and trends and be agile working in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.WHAT YOU WILL WORK ONIf this is you, you will be building and driving communications strategies and storytelling putting Nike athletes at the center.+ Develop and execute strategic communications plans tied to Nike’s narrative+ Provide strategic counsel and own day-to-day relationship with key sports marketing and other functional partners+ Create supporting messaging documents that position Nike as a leading innovation brand+ Navigate and manage issues as needed+ Support key communications events and sport moments globallyWHO YOU WILL WORK WITHYou will be part of the Global Consumer, Product and Brand Communications team and will report to the Senior Director of Sport Moments & Athlete Communications. This role will work closely with all areas of the Global Communications team and with a highly matrixed and cross-functional group across the following areas: Sports Marketing, Brand Marketing, Athlete business teams, Legal, HR, Business Affairs and StrategyWHAT YOU BRING+ Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, business or related field and 8 years relevant work experience or relevant combination of education, skills and experiences.+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills+ Strong media relations background+ Communicates vision and purpose-ability to paint a compelling picture of the vision and strategy that motivates others to action+ Has an enterprise mentality with the ability to "see the bigger picture" and navigate risk, issues and opportunities+ Ability to develop and execute strategic communications plans, manage and proactively drive corporate reputation and deliver narrative-led storytelling+ Thinks strategically-can cut through complexity to find solutions and approaches for impact+ Experience working on complex issues that require thoughtful analysis and high-level strategic counsel+ Strong networking and relationship building skills; ability to influence others to take action+ Proactive and flexible-able and eager to respond and adapt to a rapid-paced environment and circumstances, seeking clarity and problem solving at every step+ Sport, cultural and societal acumen- able to leverage critical thinking skills to identify/assess dynamic and evolving cultural/social/political moments, events, trends+ Willingness to relocate to the Beaverton, Oregon area+ Ability to travel for business as neededNIKE, Inc. is committed to employing a diverse workforce.
