Discover more about our mission and impact at www.mass-service.org.Job Overview:The Communications and Marketing Associate is responsible for creating visual and written content for MSA’s external communications and marketing efforts as well as keeping MSA’s website (www.mass-service.org) and any additional online resources up-to-date. The Communications and Marketing Associate will additionally support the Operations and External Affairs team with events, and MSA at large with any internal graphic design needs. The Associate is expected to center justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in all marketing and communications efforts.Essential Functions:Take the lead on graphic design and written content for MSA’s external communications and marketing efforts, including:email communicationssocial media platformspress/advocacy materials (e.g., fact sheets, press releases)digital and print advertisementsMSA’s annual reportKeep MSA’s main website (www.mass-service.org) and any additional online resources or sites (e.g., www.msaconnectsforgood.org) functional and up-to-date.Assist MSA with other design needs (e.g., Zoom backgrounds, presentations) and outsource to contractors as necessary for printing.Incorporate MSA’s justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) approach and an accessability-first mindset in all communications and marketing materials.Ensure consistency of messaging and branding across all marketing and communications materials to support and strengthen MSA’s brand.Marginal Functions:Attend state and regional conferences on service and volunteerism.Participate in internal MSA workgroups as appropriate, especially the JEDI workgroup.Participate in America Service Commissions (ASC) work and learning groups to share best practices and learnings from the field.Serve as MSA’s liaison with the Boston Chapter of AmeriCorps Alums board, including attending one evening board meeting a month.Organizational Responsibilities (required of all employees):Participate in MSA events and activities including AmeriCorps Opening Day, Commonwealth Corps Celebration of Service, and the Massachusetts Conference on Volunteerism (may require travel within Massachusetts).Participate in at least one MSA grant review including AmeriCorps, Commonwealth Corps, and other volunteer programming grant reviews.Participate in MSA workgroups with the aim of improving internal operations, strategy, and organizational culture.Support and strengthen MSA’s overall Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) priorities and guiding principles.Qualifications:Overall1-3 years of relevant work experience which may include an internship, service year (i.e., AmeriCorps, Commonwealth Corps), volunteer position, or paid work; experience with mission-focused companies or organizations is preferred.Ability to take initiative — both independently and in a team setting.Organized and able to prioritize different tasks effectively, with careful attention to detail, consistency, and follow-through.Ability to learn new technology platforms quickly and efficiently.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Content Creation and ManagementExperience incorporating Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) and accessibility features (e.g., alt text, accessible design) into written and visual communications a plus.Excellent writing and editing skills; experience writing newsletters, blog posts, and press releases (particularly in the nonprofit sector) a plus.Skilled at graphic design; Adobe Creative Cloud proficiency and/or video editing and/or animation experience a plus.Proficiency in content creation for and management of social media platforms (i.e., Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, now known as X). Experience with content calendars and/or scheduling platforms (e.g., Buffer or Hootsuite) a plus.Proficiency in mass email communications; experience with MailChimp a plus.Experience maintaining website content; experience developing front-end websites with HTML/CSS/Javascript and Webflow (or comparable platforms) a plus.OtherAdept at monitoring, understanding, and reporting back on website, email, and social media analytics. Experience with Google Analytics and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) a plus.Experience in Salesforce and/or grants management systems a plus.Experience managing and reporting back on paid social campaigns a plus.Experience with media relations/PR a plus.What We Offer:The salary range for this position is $51,000 to $56,000 annually. The starting salary is typically at the lower end of this range and will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.We offer a hybrid work model of 2 days in-office and 3 days remote per week, with flexibility to accommodate professional and personal needs.Our comprehensive benefits package includes health and dental insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer match, generous paid time off, and professional development opportunities.MSA will offer ample training and support to this role – particularly around our technology platforms.Application Process -
