Responsibilities**please upload resume/c.v., cover letter, and 3 professional references as one PDF****Position Summary:**With wide latitude for initiative and judgement, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting, supervises all aspects of day-to-day building operations at Carlson Library. Provides Q&i desk service, manages room reservations, assists the Carlson Q&i Coordinator in training student assistants and maintaining student worker training materials. Works under direction of the Carlson Q&i Coordinator. Availability for occasional weekend shifts as scheduled.**Responsibilities:**+ Is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Carlson Library including room reservation requests and management, library and event signage, communication with maintenance and facilities, and submitted work order for building repairs and updates.+ Communicates and coordinates with Building & Technology Services and Research Initiatives to prepare for events and classes held in Carlson Library, building or security updates, conducting inventory of furniture, equipment, and office supplies to submit reports to stakeholders.+ Assists Carlson Q&i Coordinator in interviewing, hiring, scheduling, and training Carlson Q&i Student Employees. Works with Q&i Coordinator to maintain and deliver ongoing student employee training. Assists with maintaining student worker schedules and communication during Carlson Q&i Coordinator absences.+ Staffs multiple RCL Q&i service points, including chat services, to provide patrons with assistance accessing library spaces, resources, and services, circulate items, collect fines and fees using a credit card machine, troubleshoot technology issues, monitor library spaces, engage in general problem solving, and provide information about RCL and University of Rochester services, resources, and events. Tasks include answering telephones, sending emails, keeping statistics, scanning documents, retrieving items from the library stacks, and opening or closing library buildings when scheduled.+ Participates in departmental projects focused on exploring patron needs, improving spaces or services, or improving internal staff processes. Serves on RCL interdepartmental project teams and committees in support of RCL’s strategic goals.Other duties as assigned.**Qualifications:**+ Associate’s degree required.+ Bachelor’s degree preferred.+ 2+ years related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.+ Experience with using Integrated Library Systems preferred.+ Problem solving skills required+ Basic computer literacy including standard office software required.+ Knowledge of general library operations and best practices preferred.+ Knowledge of budgeting and financial best practices preferred.+ Knowledge of general building management preferred.The University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion to advance the University’s mission to Learn, Discover, Heal, Create – and Make the World Ever Better.
