The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Pine Grove is looking for a Corrections Library Assistant to join our team! The purpose of this position is to monitor and support the daily operations of the library. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Library Assistant, you supervise all operations of the Pine Grove institutional library in the absence of the Librarian. You create and maintain a clean and safe environment that promotes reading and learning for inmates.

Duties include overseeing inmate work crews and completing inmate attendance and progress reports, answering questions from the inmate population and institutional staff pertaining to library resources and programs, and completing daily call-outs for inmates. You also reply to inmate correspondence and process the library mail. In addition, you assist the Librarian in the training, scheduling, hiring, and terminating inmate library personnel.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday to Saturday, with 30-minute lunch, holidays off. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. We offer an excellent compensation package, including competitive income, generous paid time off, health insurance, and an excellent retirement package. Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,646.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of clerical experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Other Requirements:
