The Position:

The Greenwood Village city government exists to make a difference in the lives of those in the community. As a 911 Communications Specialist, you will play an integral role in ensuring a safe and secure community by the efficient handling of emergency and non-emergency calls and to provide Police Officers with detailed information pertaining to the call for service via radio or telephone. 911 Communications Specialists are responsible for call taking, dispatching police officers, and handling many administrative responsibilities while upholding high standards of customer service.

The salary range for this position is $28.89 - $40.28 per hour in addition to an exceptional benefits package including a selection of medical, dental, and vision insurance, recreation reimbursement, retirement programs, tuition reimbursement, as well as paid floating holiday time, paid time off, and paid sick leave. Essential Functions of the 911 Communications Specialist Position Include:

Answer 911 and non-emergency callsDispatch police officers to criminal and civil situationsMonitor radio traffic, fulfill officers' requests and perform administrative tasksProcess call information in CAD and utilize additional systems to obtain and store informationUse CCIC/NCIC database to obtain information for police officersKnowledge and Ability Requirements:

The knowledge and skills needed to be successful are typically gained through the attainment of a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must be able to obtain CCIC/NCIC Certification through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation within 6 months of hire with renewal every two years. Candidates must be 18 years old.

Candidates must also have the ability to:

Operate various computer systems,software and wear a headsetPerform a variety of administrative dutiesWork under pressure, exercise good judgment and make sound decisions in emergency situationsEffectively communicate, both orally and in writing, and elicit information from upset and irate callers.Type accurately at a speed necessary for successful job performanceEstablish and maintain cohesive working relationships

Additional Considerations:

As a municipal organization, Greenwood Village is an emergency provider of services with the 911 Center providing 24-hour emergency communications for the Village. 911 Communications Specialists may be required to work weekends, holidays, as well as day, swing and night shifts. Additional on call shifts may be required due to natural disasters or other emergency situations.
