KMBC-TV, the ABC affiliate in Kansas City, is looking for someone to join the First/Alert Weather team who can also report several days a week. We are looking for a meteorologist who knows the science and can tell a relatable weather story in our weekend morning newscasts.  The successful candidate will also serve as a general assignment reporter several times each week. This role reports to the News Director.

Responsibilities

  • Get our viewers ready for their weekends with accurate, compelling, and understandable weather forecasts.
  • Provide urgent and immediate weather information before and during severe weather events.
  • Can simultaneously provide content on TV, for our radio partners, and on our digital platforms.
  • Several weekdays of general assignment reporting on a wide range of stories in Kansas City.

Requirements

  • Professional on-air experience handling breaking news and severe weather coverage.
  • In-depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting.
  • Dynamic on-air presence with a conversational presentation.
  • Experience with live field reporting on weather and other topics.
  • NWA and CBM seals are a plus.
  • Related military experience will be considered.
  • In-person attendance is required.
