Legal Services NYC seeks a full-time Internal Communications Manager to execute internal communications strategies that bring greater transparency to projects and programs, amplify voices across leadership, and foster greater collaboration and community among staff. The Internal Communications Manager reports to the Director of Communications and works closely with senior leadership throughout LSNYC.The Organization:Legal Services NYC (LSNYC) fights poverty and seeks racial, social, and economic justice for low-income New Yorkers. For more than 50 years, we have challenged systemic injustices that keep people in poverty and provided legal services that help our clients meet basic needs for housing, income, economic security, family and immigration stability, education, and health care. Our work fights discrimination and helps to achieve equity for low-income New Yorkers. With a workforce of nearly 700 people, we are the country’s largest provider of free civil legal services serving nearly 110,000 individuals yearly. LSNYC partners with scores of community-based and member-run organizations, elected officials, law schools, public agencies, pro bono lawyers, and the courts to maximize our effectiveness and regularly uses media as an advocacy tool to help clients and spotlight injustices.Responsibilities include:· Creating and executing internal communications strategies that bring transparency to our programs and work and that foster greater collaboration and community across the organization;· Advising on and drafting messages from LSNYC leadership, including the Executive Director, Unit Heads, and various departments, to staff and the board;· Drafting and sending an internal newsletter to staff, which includes staff profiles and advocacy updates from borough offices;· Providing internal communications support across departments, including central and borough offices, HR, Operations, Development, Finance, Compliance, and others;· Liaising with and updating LSNYC’s boards of directors with internal accomplishments and updates;· Assisting leadership in responding to internal/external crises with strategic messaging that aligns with LSNYC’s core values;· Helping to keep our internal Intranet portal updated with resources and content relevant to staff;· Collaborating with our DEIB committee as well as Affinity Groups to ensure staff are aware of and engaged in ongoing projects;· Building internal communication capacity and change management skills across the organization, ensuring major projects and initiatives are accompanied with a rollout plan and that cross communication occurs across the organization;· Performing other duties and projects as assigned by the Communications Director.Qualifications:· At least 7+ years of internal communications experience;· Excellent written and verbal communication skills;· Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills and good judgement;· Culturally sensitive with the ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and sensitively with people of diverse professional and cultural backgrounds;· Strong organizational, planning, project management skills and attention to detail, with consistent follow-through and ability to juggle multiple priorities under deadline;· Experience working in social justice, non-profit, or mission driven organizations;· The ability to hold private and confidential information;· Available to work occasional weekends and evenings.HOW TO APPLY:Interested individuals should email a resume and cover letter to communications@lsnyc.org.Please write “Internal Communications Manager” in subject line.Only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
