The Role

Emergent is seeking a Social Media Coordinator with a passion for social media and digital content to join our creative, highly collaborative Editorial team. The individual in this role will work hand-in-hand with our social media, editorial, and creative leads to bring unique stories to life in a social-first way. The ideal candidate will be deeply familiar with social platforms-particularly Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest-and have a background in journalism and/or professional writing. This individual will own the management of our social communities across the Emergent portfolio while also generating content for the channels.

Responsibilities:

Monitor and respond to social media interactions, including comments, messages, and mentionsConduct proactive engagement to grow our audiencesAssist Social Media Managers with content curation, outreach, and scheduling/posting content as neededWork with Editorial Director and contributors to optimize editorial stories for social channelsContribute reported/researched stories for editorial sites and social channelsMonitor social media trends and stay up-to-date with platform best practicesBrainstorm new and innovative ideas for content that will resonate with our audienceWork collaboratively across editorial, creative, sales, and other internal teams to champion fully integrated, social-first ideasRequirements:

Strong understanding of existing and emerging social media platforms, especially TikTok and InstagramExceptional writing and research skillsSkilled communicator in both written and verbal formatsCreative, innovative thinkerAble to manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities in a fast-paced environmentOrganized and detail-oriented, with relentlessly high standardsCurrently based in or relocating to Los Angeles, CA. Reports to: Director of Editorial

Starting salary: $26.44 - $28.84 per hour ($55,000-$60,000 annually)

This is a part-time role, 20-30 hours per week, with the possibility of converting to full-time for the right candidate.

Hybrid schedule, WFH / In-office twice a week
