Summary

The Vice President, Communications directs internal and external communications and plays a strategic role in shaping the profile and reputation of Chenega Corporation. This hands-on role will define and set priorities, clarify and manage key messaging, supports the communication needs of the organization, employees, Board of Directors and Chenega Shareholders.

Responsibilities

Develop and evolve communications campaign strategies to protect the Chenega brand and reputation.

Provides public relations counsel to executive staff and oversees strategic planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of the corporation’s public relations and communication plans.

Promotes, maintains, and defends corporate reputation; builds proactive strategies and executes rapid response to time sensitive messaging.

Develops and implements an integrated strategic communications plan to advance Chenega Corporation’s identity; broaden awareness of its programs and priorities; and increases the visibility of its programs across key internal and external stakeholders.

Provides advanced comprehensive writing and presentation support for all internal and external communications including employee and shareholder newsletters, website design & refresh, PowerPoint presentations, multimedia, and marketing/business development materials.

Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization. Works with leadership teams to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions.

Implements best practice methodologies and supports cross- departmental collaboration for all enterprise level initiatives.

Champions cultural initiatives.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years proven experience in public relations/corporate communications.

A bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.

Prefer direct or indirect experience with an Alaska Native Corporation.

High-level Microsoft Office proficiency.
